About 200 protesters gathered to register their anger as BNP leader Nick Griffin was due to turn up to a meeting in Barnsley last night. He was here to address the Barnsley branch of the BNP at the Fleets Inn, Smithies, ahead of the European elections next month. But, when word got out, the Unite Against Fascism and Love Music, Hate Racism organisations rallied their members and held a protest outside the pub.
Thirty police officers, including four on horseback, kept the protesters away from The Fleets as party members turned up to chants of 'scum' and 'smash the BNP'.
George Arthur was one of the protest's organisers. He said Mr Griffin had been convicted for Holocaust denial and was not welcome in Barnsley. "The policies of Griffin's party are homophobic and racist. We want to see greater social cohesion in Barnsley not the hatred this man is going to bring."
Fleets owner Steve Dutton told the Chronicle he was not political and the decision to hire out the room was purely a business one. He said: "It might seem mercenary but I cannot afford to lose custom."
The BNP had held meetings at the pub for about a year, without any cause for concern, he said and added the pub was open to the whole community.
Council leader Steve Houghton was in London yesterday and unable to attend the protest but said he supported it. "I find it very disturbing that people with extremist views like Nick Griffin feel they can find a home in Barnsley. The BNP stands for racism and the far right - it does not represent the views of ordinary working people no matter how they dress it up."
Barnsley Chronicle
That fucker on the left looks like he's up for it. Generally speaking, they seem about what I'd expect at a BNP meeting.
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly certain you've got the wrong picture there, those people are clearly on their way to a recording of ISIHAC.
ReplyDeleteHopefully the venue WILL LOSE CUSTOM after this.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see a list of all BNP venues where official meetings have taken place recently in the entire country so potential customers can drink peacefully elsewhere!
Look like a bunch of brainless pissed-up football hooligans. Who else would remain in the BNP, doing Cyclops's dirty work, when he's screwing each and every one of them to line his pockets with gold, the c*nt!
ReplyDeleteIf the party is as full as paedos as we all imagine, wander where their dirty hands have been
ReplyDeleteLOL
What's with the thugs making inane hand-gestures?
ReplyDelete"It's not me, guv?"
Reminds me of the guilty look worn by soccer players who have just poleaxed someone, leaving someone for dead on the pitch, protesting their innocence as if they didn't do it to the referree, while the red card is drawn.
Let's all show racism the red card!
Please, Ketlan/Denise, can we make this into a caption competition, as these racist arseholes look fairly comical, lol!
ReplyDeleteHope the pub goes bust!
ReplyDeleteThat would be kind of ironic.
Someone tell the guy in the middle that a 'Sieg Heil' only requires one arm.
ReplyDeleteThe one on the left "I have'nt got any money left I gave it all to Prick Gri££in"
ReplyDeleteThe one in the middle: "Prick's ego is this big"
The one on the right: "I'm off for a pie, anyone coming?"
I see the keyboard warriors have been busy 'bigging up' the BNP on the Star.....
ReplyDeleteSome quality, well reasoned, well written comments there... NOT... feel free to put them right!

Judging by the photo E-17 should never try and reform without Tony Mortimer.
ReplyDeleteI do hope Sabrina Ashley isn't contributing to The Star comments page. Her sparkling wit, ability to copy and paste responses and pass them off as her own and the boggle eyed unswerving loyalty to the party is greatly appreciated by all those of us who have read the BNP activists handbook.
ReplyDeleteThe BNP must love you, programmed and without emotion. You don't have a view unless they tell you what your view is and you don't have a fucking clue about what is happening in your party.
John Winsome Winston Beatson maybe talking to a solicitor after one of the editors of The Star happened upon his blog last night.
Ah is the Barnskey BNPs Think Tank in action again, or are they practicing their dance moves for when the Village People's YMCA is next played at G A Y? The one on the end needs to take his hands out of his pockets or no one will know what he's spelling unless he is playing pocket billiards again
ReplyDelete"Fleets owner Steve Dutton told the Chronicle he was not political and the decision to hire out the room was purely a business one."
ReplyDelete- Surely one of the worst business decisions ever!..I can't believe he's so naive as to think that right-minded decent folk will now want to come and drink in a place that hosts BNP rallies! I also can't believe I've been going in that place on the odd occassion over the last year unaware they were hosting these meetings! Makes me ashamed and a bit sick to be honest! These goose-stepping chumps DO NOT represent what the majority in Barnsley believe and they WILL NOT find a home here!
