Last chance to register to vote

In order to be eligible to vote in the Euro and County Council elections on June 4th you must be registered by no later than 19th May 2009. If you would like a postal vote for these elections the closing date is 5pm on the 19th May 2009.

Here's a registration form, that you have to fill in and return to your Town Hall by Tuesday. If you need a postal vote, there is more information here and for proxy votes, see here. There is a downloadable leaflet (158KB PDF) here which includes a sample ballot paper and a note on the importance of voting to keep extremists out. For information in other languages, go here.

  2. It's essential that we get the anti-BNP vote out. Make sure you're registered and that you go and vote on June 4th.

    Thanks for that. :-)

Sorted the link for the registration form - it now comes up with the options. Thanks for letting us know the link was duff.

  7. @Wes again

"To register, you need to fill in a form called a 'Declaration of local connection'. You can get this form by contacting your electoral registration office."

I take that to mean your local office (Town Hall, Civic Centre et al)

Local office, yes, but you should be able to find them online and print them out yourself.

  10. "BNP leader Nick Griffin warned of “Gurkha ghettos” and vowed to remove all non-serving Gurkhas."

Thanks for printing that Sun link.

Another nail in the coffin for the BNP.

The BNP are traitors to democracy, freedom, the British armed forces and to liberty itself.

  11. Well done for printing this info. I'm sure a lot of people out there hadn't realised the final registration date was nearly here.

  12. Regarding the Gurkha article, according to Bonkers Barnes,

"So far today we have managed to remove all articles that repeated the lies in The Sun article from the internet."

That's a lie for a start - its still here on LU and in a lot of other places I've looked.

  13. The Gurkha article is off the Sun's site. Take care folks.

  14. Odinist toolbox Lee Barnes LLB on Charlie Brooker:

"Charlie Brooker in his picture looks like a right knobhead - a sort of sad, middle aged version of a rockabilly rebel with a dyed ducks arse haircut."

    It's all that good...

Someone's really ruffled his (duck's) feathers.

  16. No imprint ? I doubt that it would tax Inspector Knackers brain to hard to trace trhis back, I would have more respect for the Suin if they handed the evidence of this crime against electoral law to the returning officer.

  17. As nobody at all has made any legal representation to us regarding the Gurkha story (and I don't count the moronic lunatic Lee 'Bonkers' Barnes as a legal representative), the story stays up. If we receive an appropriate and formal takedown request, with valid reasons to do so, we might consider it.

  18. Lee Barnes Is A Nutjob9:28 pm, May 18, 2009

The BNP talk about freedom of speech and put stupid gags over their childish faces, but when it comes to real freedom of speech, they don't approve of airing anything in the press except their own sick racist lies.

  19. "The spokesman said Barnbrook, the GLA member for Barking, has also been invited to a garden party at Buckingham Palace"...

If this is true, there should be a campaign for the Royal Family to change their minds, just as we do when a neo-nazi pub is hosting BNP neo-nazi knuckleheads!

I'm sure Prince Charles doesn't want them there!

Don't know about Prince Harry, though!!!!
