BNP casework figures for Barking and Dagenham released

The BNP in Barking and Dagenham make great play about their concern about the provision of decent housing for local people. Now you'd think that interest in all things housing would be reflected in the amount of casework BNP councillors have done in the last year about housing issues. You would, wouldn't you? Well in answer to a Freedom of Information request - the following information has been obtained.

In terms of housing casework submissions - let's look at how much BNP councillors have submitted:

Top BNP councillor is -

Councillor Richard Barnbrook with 11 housing submissions.
Next up councillor Rustem with errm.... 9.
Then councillor Buckley with 6.
Councillor Knight with 3.
And in this role call of housing casework - last and certainly least - step forward BNP group leader, councillor Bob Bailey with er .... 1 housing submission......

To be fair that's better than councillors Doncaster - all three of them -
councillor Tuffs, Steed, Lansdown, and Jarvis - all of whom submitted not a single housing related issue.

And how did Labour council cabinet members compare?

Well, council leader Liam Smith made 106 housing submissions.
Housing cabinet exec member Phil Waker 82.
Councillor Val Rush 41.
Councillor Rob Little 37.
Councillor Mick McCarthy 27.
Councillor Rocky Gill 23.
Councillor Bert Collins 21.
Councillor Jeanette Alexander 19.

You get the picture....

So proof, if proof were needed, that the BNP yet again, have been shown up for the lazy, all mouth and no trousers individuals they are. So next time you see the BNP talking about housing remember how that talk translates into real action on housing matters...

  2. How can any councillor in an area like Barking and Dagenham go through a year submitting nine items of Housing casework, let alone one?

This has to mean either that nobody contacts them, or that they don't process casework when it comes to them.

I am a councillor in a borough that has a lot of similarities with Barking and I receive several hundred requests for help on Housing matters each year. Even the Labour figures look low to me, but the BNP figures are ludicrous.

There would seem no point in them being councillors, nazi politics notwithstanding. What exactly do they do?

  3. BNP councillor Richard Barnbrook was elected on a pledge of making more affordable homes available for local people, but as revealed in the Barking and Dagenham Recorder (22/5/08) Richard Barnbrook voted AGAINST a planned development at Lymington Fields which was set to create a new school and 600 new homes, 180 of which are ear-marked for key workers like nurses, teachers and firemen. Richard Barnbrook also voted AGAINST a development at Barking Riverside, where 4,300 affordable homes are planned.

As revealed in the Barking and Dagenham Post (27/5/08), Richard Barnbrook sidekick Jamie Jarvis, the BNP member for Village Ward, showed up for a pathetic 7 of the 27 council meetings he is paid nearly £10,000 of the public's money to attend. BNP members Darren Tuffs and Ronald Doncaster from Parsloes Ward and BNP member Tracey Lansdown from Goresbrook Ward bothered to show up at only 6 meetings each last year, while BNP member Sandra Doncaster of Valence Ward dragged herself along to a paltry 8 meetings, trousering well over £1,000 per session!

  5. Marshall is illegally standing in Barking on May 6th.

'In May 2008, the Observer newspaper reported that Jeffrey Marshall, senior organiser for the BNP’s London European election campaign, had posted a message on an internet forum in which he commented on the death of David Cameron’s disabled son Ivan.

According to the Observer, Mr Marshall said: “We live in a country today which is unhealthily dominated by an excess of sentimentality towards the weak and unproductive. No good will come of it.”

The Observer article said that later, in response to comments made by others on the site, Marshall is alleged to have written: “There is not a great deal of point in keeping these people alive after all.”
