The British National Party is shutting down its Belfast office, Steven Moore, the Sunday World’s leading investigative journalist, will reveal on Sunday. Doubts over the future of the call centre had arisen after it emerged that Jim Dowson, the BNP’s fundraising and management consultant, had fallen out with the party.
The relationship between the BNP leader Nick Griffin and Dowson, a convicted criminal who had control of the bulk of the party’s assets and operations, suffered irretrievable breakdown because of Griffin’s employment of Patrick Harrington to help run the party’s administration.
Harrington, one of the leaders of the rival Third Way party and general secretary of the BNP’s fake trade union, Solidarity, has wormed himself into a position of growing influence in the party, upsetting several employees and members in the process. Many are suspicious, seeing Harrington as a cuckoo in the nest.
Serial liar Dowson, who once told the Sunday World that he never joined the BNP but says he remains “100% loyal”, claimed recently that before his departure he assaulted Harrington.
This is the second time that Griffin has had to pack up an office in Northern Ireland and skedaddle back to the mainland. Twenty years ago he and his comrades fled after loyalist paramilitaries indicated it would be unhealthy for them to stay after Harrington, then one of Griffin’s comrades in the National Front Political Soldiers, refused to condemn the Provisional IRA’s mainland bombing campaign.
In summer Griffin and Dowson jetted off to the south of France with their families for the wedding of one of Dowson’s daughters. Now Dowson is unlikely to be on the guest list for Harrington’s wedding this Friday.
Staff in the Belfast bunker, who had mostly been brought in from outside the province, had been promised job security as Griffin recognised that they would be left in a vulnerable situation if they moved back to the mainland. Like nearly everything else Griffin says, his word has proved worthless.

Has someone paid griffin a large back hander to screw the bnp up ? Every thing he does lateley turns to dust, the fuhrer seems to be loosing it like a run away truck i hope well when the men in white coats come calling he shares a padded cell with the green arrow.
ReplyDeleteWell done to Searchlight who made life for the BNP in Belfast absolutely miserable.
ReplyDeleteAt times I felt I was actually living there as exposé after came exposé out. Excellent campaigning and investigative journalism from bitter start to bitter end.
Mainland????
ReplyDeleteYou mean Britain.
I think suggesting that Griffin is on some kind of state payroll is giving him to much credit. Rather than a back hander i would say its Griffos oversized ego which has led him to make such terrible decisions. It seems to me that it is since his election to the eurotrough he has got it into his head that he no longer needs his party to secure his pension.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Griffin's daughter, Jenny Matthys, a 'triangle player' in a local Loyalist 'Kick-the-Pope' band?
ReplyDeleteWhat will she do now she has to move back to the Mainland?
Also Pat Harrington's getting married. Let's all club together and get the guy a present. A small 'thank you' from anti-fascists for fucking up every far-right group that he's been involved in over the past quarter century!
@ Waxy Lemon
ReplyDeleteAgree. There's probably very little State involvement on either the far Right or Left in this country today. If it did occur in the past then it was to do with matters related to the skewed prism of the Cold War and the troubles in Ireland.
Conspiracy theorists on both sides of the political divide like to blame some mysterious 'hidden hand' for their own failures and for the fact that the mass of the British voting public are generally small 'c' conservatives who aren't attracted to extremes and never will be.
"There's probably very little State involvement on either the far Right or Left in this country today."
ReplyDeleteAre you joking? The state infiltrates and recruits as much as it can in Trotskyist, fascist, anarchist, communist, animal rights, etc, etc, groups. The Copeland affair caused it to infiltrate the BNP and pay informers to pass on details of nutters. The EDL is already infiltrated. The SWP has been targetted for years and still is. The "Irish problem" may have been replaced by the "Muslim problem" but otherwise things haven't changed much.
Mainland????
ReplyDeleteAre you really that thick or are you just pissing about.

ReplyDeleteAre you living in 1983?
The State really doesn't regard said groups as much of a threat to it and it's narcissism to suggest that they do.
What did ex-MI5 officer Peter Wright say about 'Pondfull of Ducks'?
Anyway, why would they need to internally monitor the BNP as this organisation leaks whole membership lists onto the internet on a fairly regular basis?
Harrington is a major player behind the scenes in this latest debacle, this is one twisted piece of Nazi shit, even more mentally deranged than Lecomber. An eye should be kept closely on this nasty Nazi, I don't know what direction he could lead Griffin into now?
ReplyDeleteJohn P there's a message for you on your You Tube channel ;)
ReplyDeletehttp://registers.electoralcommission.org.uk/regulatory-issues/regpoliticalparties.cfm?frmGB=1&frmPartyID=38&frmType=partydetail see anything new?
ReplyDeleteI can believe that the state would have infiltrated groups in the past so as to gather information about memberships etc However in these days of the internet and cctv much of this info can be gathered without the need for cloak n dagger type situations. The EDL for example are encouraged to meet in wetherspoons, all spoons pubs have cctv so i suspect the list of edl members is complete (with photographs) without the need for a plant.

ReplyDeleteI heard Harrington speak once. Talk about the aural equivalent of watching paint dry!
Honestly, we haven't got much to worry about with this guy.
People like him only come to the fore in organisations that are very much on the decline. His promotion is actually a good thing.
The security services are on record as stating they infiltrated the BNP in the late 90s. Obviously the above poster knows better.

ReplyDeleteSo what was the meeting in a Sheffield police station about? What the state is particular interested in is the activity of the most dangerous and subversive (from the state's point of view) members of far left and far right groups. Having lists of members names and their details isn't enough because some are harmless and some are downright dangerous. So the state pays some informers to snitch on the latter. How do I know? Well I do but as the state and fash can post anonymously on here the less said the better. But everyone in a far left or far right organisation is being monitored to some degree or another. And the state and their informants want to know who knows about them. Now that's where it gets interesting.
