BNP registers in Northern Ireland for first time

The BNP has for the first time registered as a political party in Northern Ireland. This means it can now field candidates in the Assembly or council elections. The move was confirmed on Wednesday by the Electoral Commission.

The right-wing party has in the past expressed an interest in contesting elections in Northern Ireland but has so far failed to do so.

  1. "The right-wing party..."

Just look at the totally inadequate description of the BNP given by the BBC. Such a description does nothing to distinguish them from UKIP or even the Conservative party.

  2. They are standing, no doubt, to capitalise on racism in Loyalist communties.

Remember the mini-pogrom of Romas a few years back? The BNP want to give that political direction.

  3. Far-right parties operating in NI usually end up out of their depth. The NF opened a bookshop in Templemore Avenue in the mid '80s but ended up upsetting the local paramilitaries after which they were encouraged to leave.

    They left.

  5. Gri££in the coward doesn’t even have the balls to walk the streets of mainland Britain without his aging and fat ‘security’; and they wont amount to shit-all in Northern Ireland!

Gri££in will scamper off like a little girl at the first whiff of trouble or aggression towards his pathetic opportunist cash-making plans and leave others the mess.

I just hope this vile man ‘gets his’ in good time, and I’m around to watch.

  6. As ever, you miss the point with the BNP.

    CASH CASH CASH

Unless the rules have changed, unlike on the mainland, N.I. parties can receive foreign donations (this was a sop to Sinn Fein to allow them to receive American cash)

This now applies to BNP (N.I.)

The Electoral Commission were going to close this loophole but I do not think they got around to it.

I think it's a tad unfair to say we miss the point about the BNP being a money making scheme for Griffin after the people who have been contributing to this blog for the last few years have highlighted several of the sidelines that Griffin has set up.

As for the Electoral Commission and NI loophole, I admit I wasn't aware of that and no doubt we will see a new version of AFBNP.
    Thanks for the heads up.

True but organised racism in NI would be confined to the Loyalist areas.

BNP activists walking around Catholic districts with Union Jack leaflets wouldn't last too long.

The BNP would give such areas a wide berth.

  9. @John P

    Sorry.

What I intended to say was that the cash aspect in this case had been overlooked.

While contributors were debating what policies the BNP (N.I.) would push I wished to remind them to look at the cash angle.

What's the betting that GRI££IN has the N.I. operation operated seperate from the rest of the UK by family (daughter) or non-members (Harrington, Lebomber etc) claiming that "The electoral commission insist on the two parts being seperate"?

LeBomber is no longer in favour with the BNP leadership. He has been publicly arguing with Harrington on BDF for a few weeks now.

With sickening hypocrisy, Harrington is claiming the BNP rejected LeBomber when details of his criminal past came out. But LeBomber was a major player in Griffin's takeover of the party, years after he was convicted and gaoled. Griffin, Harrington and everyone else would have known full well about LeBomber's unsavoury past.
