The Muslim Public Affairs Committee (MPACUK) reports an attack on two Muslim bystanders during an anti-Muslim march in Dagenham by the far-right group, the English Defence League.
The viscous attack occurred on Saturday 18th June, when the two Muslim men, both in their mid 20’s, were walking through their town when they encountered the EDL march. It is estimated that around 250 EDL members were present at the march and were shouting Islamophobic and racist chants.
Surprisingly, there was not a single uniformed policeman in the area and local residents were not warned by the police prior to the march that they must remain vigilant.
The two victims, Aftab Baig and Mohammed Baig crossed over to the other side of the road to avoid the EDL thugs but some of the EDL protesters followed them and started hurling abuse at the two men. Six of the EDL members then launched a violent attack on the two men, throwing them to the ground where they were kicked and punched repeatedly.
Both men sustained multiple injuries and Mohammed Baig was hospitalised suffering head injuries and a broken jaw.
MPACUK would like to know why the problem of the EDL is not being taken seriously by the government or the police despite the EDL having a track record of violence and disorder. A number of EDL members have criminal records for violent offences. The EDL is an extremist group that should be banned.

'viscous attack'? What, did they throw treacle at them or something?
ReplyDeleteThe EDL are nothing but illiterate thugs, why such a facist group is allowed to even speak their beliefs is beyond me. Nothing but violent racists!
ReplyDeleteSerious subject I know but:
ReplyDelete"a viscous attack"? I suppose 'slow and thick' is not the worst adjective to describe the EDL...
Typo -- 'viscous' <<<<< ☺
ReplyDeleteI just see that on the UAF web page they have put up pics from their really successfull LMHR gig in Ramsgate on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteThis gig was on at the samd time that the Asian youths were getting th shot kicked out of them.
So one has to wonder why Weyman is constantly raving on about "Smashing the EDL" and not handing the streets over to them, when on a day he could have done just that, he was by the seaside in an alnost all white town licking an ice cream and chanting "fuck the EDL" and "Fuck the BNP" instead.
What a great weekend for the EDL. Weyman and the lollipop brigade were down by the seaside licking ice creams and chanting "Smash The EDL" as they always do, without actually doing it.
ReplyDeleteWhile up in Leeds it transpires that "hundreds of militant antifascists" didn't really do anything either, other than go on the internet and tell whopping macho bullshit lies about a fight that they never really had.
Oh yes, they did manage to try and solicit donations for their imaginery "militants" at the same time.
We need to get it together folks. All the time supposed antifascists are telling lies and riding the donkies on the beach, people are getting hurt.
If you're not up to it that's fine. But don't waste everybody else's time with lies, lollipops and rock concerts when there is a job to be done.
We can't wait for the UAF to get their arses in gear. It won't happen.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be a left-wing street presence again to take the fight to the fash, or at the very least, make it very difficult for them to organise without getting smashed when they do.
