Last month, Nottingham Crown Court jailed BNP member Michael Winfield for illegally importing lethal, offensive weapons he had purchased from a neo-nazi group in the United States. When police raided the home of Michael Winfield back in December 2007, not only did they discover the weapons but also Michael Winfield’s disturbing collection of neo-nazi books, BNP pamphlets, racist stickers and a photograph of himself brandishing a weapon.

In this article, we reveal Michael Winfield’s postings in praise of Hitler and the US neo-nazi killer David Lane; his sex video; and, his racist postings against Jews and Blacks.

Michael Winfield’s praise of Hitler

In the comments section of a YouTube video on failed British fascist leader Oswald Mosley, Michael Winfield, posting as ‘Heckles300’, claims to be devotee of Adolf Hitler in his following posting:

“We adhere ourselves to Hitler and his policies because he was the only man with ebough courage”

Michael Winfield further confirms his devotion to Hitler by ending his tribute to the neo-nazi killer David Lane with ‘Heil Hitler’ in the form of the neo-nazi symbol ‘88’. Eighty-eight is used as code among neo-nazis to identify each other. ‘H’ is the 8th letter of the alphabet, so 88 is taken to stand for HH which in turn means ‘Heil Hitler’. Why one would boast of being an adherent to Hitler, given his failure and private sexual perversions, is incomprehensible to an ordinary, well-adjusted person. But, Hitler, being a massive loser, will always attract other inadequate losers such as BNP member Michael Winfield. Indeed, one only has to look towards past and current BNP leaders such as John Tyndall and Nick Griffin to see that the dark fascination with Hitler is hard-wired in the hard-core malfeasant BNP mind.

Michael Winfield’s praise of David Lane

Posting under his forename, Michael Winfield posted the following message on a nazi website in praise of deceased neo-nazi killer David Lane:

“A great loss to our great movement, he will surely be missed but let us never forget the famous 14 words by which we all should be living by: We must secure the existence of our people and a future for White Children 14/88”

David Lane is one of the most notorious and violent neo-nazis of the modern era. David Lane founded the neo-nazi terrorist group The Order which embarked on a killing and robbery spree across the United States in the 1980s. Prior to founding The Order, David Lane was an organiser for the Klu Klux Klan and then the Aryan Nations. David Lane was eventually jailed for 190 years for, amongst things, the racist killing of Jewish radio talk show host Alan Berg and racketeering crimes.

Michael Winfield’s pervert sex video

Under the moniker Heckles300, Michael Winfield posted his home-made video ‘XXX Hardcore Porn Advice’ on YouTube. Michael Winfield describes his video as follows:

“the wizard of rothsdale graces us with his presence once again and delivers some extreme advice on cock sex fuck piss shit tag words wanker dead people eat grapes”

Michael Winfield’s description of his video is interesting. Given its sexual depravity, it makes a mockery of the BNP’s claim to be an upstanding, moral party.

Michael Winfield’s racist postings against Jews and Blacks

In response to a YouTube video interview by an Asian man with a BNP member, Michael Winfield posted, again as Heckles300, the following racist abuse against Jews and Blacks:

“yeh ya entirely right gee must of been all those spear chucking africoons that came up with all the medical breakthroughs we all take for granted. wow im surprised white people are still alive thank the lord all those greedy money grabbing jews keep us alive by robbing us left right and centre”.

In response to another YouTube video (on the topic of racism), Michael Winfield again racially abuses Jews and Blacks in his following posting:

“fucks sake whoever put this shit up needs to get a life moronic jew fucker probably, ooo hope im not being to racist for you faggit loving jew nigger >:-( "

One is not surprised that a BNP member is publically racially abusing Jews and Blacks.

Michael Winfield as representative of BNP members

With his fascination for all things nazi and Hitler, inspired by the oft-violent contemporary neo-nazi scene in the United States, and racially abusive towards Jews and non-Whites, Michael Winfield is, unsurprisingly, broadly representative of many BNP members. In particular, his praise for David Lane especially stands out. It serves as a timely reminder to the British public of the cross-over between US-based neo-nazi groups and the BNP. Such groups exert a considerable influence on many BNP members who see their racist US counterparts as sources of emulation. BNP members such as Michael Winfield are undoubtedly attracted by their central ideology of an inevitable race-war and have attempted to import their visions for an impending racial apocalypse into the United Kingdom. To date, they have been frustrated by the vigilance of the police and the public. But, we should not let our guard down - the BNP harbours many far-right lunatics such as Michael Winfield who are only too willingly to act on their violent racist impulses and fantasies. Indeed, it is a well documented BNP strategy to whip up racial tensions in major urban centres with a view to exploiting those tensions for electoral gain. We ignore them at our peril.

Defectors expose plans of Germany's 'real' Nazis

Inside report reveals the violence and Hitler worship of the National Democrats, an overtly racist party on the brink of electoral success

Germany's main neo-Nazi party pretends to be democratic. But its members hoard weapons, plan to rebuild Hitler's Reich and are using the economic crisis to try to make sweeping gains in this year's elections, a new and disturbing study of the extreme right has revealed.

To write their exposé on the increasingly influential neo-Nazi National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD), the authors spent two years infiltrating Germany's far right. They interviewed party leaders and defectors who have since quit the organisation in disgust. "The NPD is a dangerous organisation," warned Olaf Sundermeyer, one of the two journalists who wrote In the NPD, published in Germany last week. "It pretends to be democratic, but make no mistake about it: these people are genuine Nazis."

Despite government attempts to ban the party, the overtly racist NPD has already won seats in two of Germany's 16 regional state parliaments. It has some 220 members on local councils, and expects to consolidate its political power base in a series of regional and local polls this year. The NPD's leader, Udo Voigt, admits that his party is unlikely to gain a foothold in the national parliament in Germany's general election this September. But he insists: " My vision is to obtain seats in the Reichstag in 2013."

To outsiders and the press, the NPD tries to portray itself as a middle-class party. Members are schooled in Berlin on how to cope with difficult questions about the Third Reich and the Holocaust. At election time, rank-and-file skinheads are replaced by men with short haircuts and suits and its handful of far-right "intellectuals".

In their book, Mr Sundermeyer and his co-author, Christoph Ruf, make it clear that the economy and unemployment are playing into the hands of the NPD. The party has infiltrated militant jobless groups, and is winning support. "Germany's ability to cope with such developments is going to be on trial in 2009. It will be a test of the country's political maturity," they warn.

Some of the most disturbing revelations about the NPD, which began life in the mid-1960s, are provided by former members who were shocked by the violence of its members and their hero-worship of Adolf Hitler. Uwe Luthardt, a taxi driver, was in the NPD leadership for three years, but resigned after watching his party colleagues severely beat a punk rocker who had shouted "Goodnight white pride" at the group. "It was the straw that broke the camel's back," Mr Luthardt said.

He revealed that the party's regional headquarters in Jena is deliberately called the "Brown House" after Hitler's Munich HQ. The cellars of the building contain a weapons cache, and are adorned with photographs of SS men. Party members sing the outlawed Nazi "Horst Wessel" anthem and a song called "We're Going to Build an Underground Train Line from Jerusalem to Auschwitz".

Mr Luthardt described how the party is funded by donations from expatriate Nazis and their families who fled to South America after the Second World War. Cash also comes from concerts staged by far-right skinhead rock bands. "The objective is to bring back the Third Reich," he said.

"A new organisation of stormtroopers would take revenge on anyone who disagrees with them. The concept is simply: let's kick out all the foreigners, then Germans will have jobs again. The are convinced that they will win an election one day, and that then things will really get going."

Mr Ruf and Mr Sundermeyer say some areas of eastern Germany have been designated "national liberation zones" by the party, because intimidated foreigners do not dare to be seen there. The head of the NPD's youth wing, Michael Schäfer, justifies the party's anti-foreigner campaign, saying: "The German Volk [people] have existed for 1,000 years; they cannot simply be allowed to disappear."

...and he doesn't seem to be much of a fan of the Young BNP either

Martin Wingfield, the current editor of the BNP's trashy tabloid, the Voice of Freedom, has reacted badly to the article in last Wednesday's Mirror about the party's Youth Camp, where future members of the Hitl - BNP were given 'ideological training', lectures in how to argue with their 'Marxist' teachers and shown how to handle - among other things - knives and guns.

Admitting that he is no 'fan of youth organisations connected to political parties', Wingfield refers directly to the ideological training, stating that it leaves the party 'vulnerable to the brainwashing charge'. Well, yes, because that's what it is. But he is not only concerned about brainwashing. As he rightly points out;

'In nationalist politics over the years, we have only received detrimental publicity concerning our youth wings - from the leafletting at school gates charge, through to targeting football supporters and now to learning about guns and knives at a summer camp.'

He should know. Wingfield has been around the far-right for donkey's years and no doubt remembers the furore caused once when a bunch of fascists turned up to leaflet outside a West Country school's gates and were promptly reported to the police. Eventually, nearly a dozen of them were nicked.

Or perhaps he's thinking of the attempts to leaflet crowds of football fans when a good few of the BNP's supporters are violent football hooligans (like the late Luke Smith, chosen by the party - despite his extensive record of hooliganism - to become a councillor in Burnley).

Possibly he remembers back to before the days of the Red, White and Blue, when the BNP ran a youth camp at which the main attraction was weapons training using paintball guns - the BNP has always had a penchant for playing toy soldiers. On this occasion, one of the kids thought he'd quite like to keep one of the paintball guns for himself but was caught and asked in no uncertain terms if he was trying to commit suicide. Why? Because the guns belonged to former-Griffin bodyguard and gangster Joe Owens, a self-confessed thug who has been accused of a zillion crimes including a number of murders.

Whether Wingfield remembers these incidents from personal experience or not, he writes;

'...all those associated with the Young BNP [give] our youngsters an exciting time and a grounding in the values that are important to us'

Presumably those values include a grounding in using guns and knives, a pastime that earned this rebuke from Home Office Minister Tony McNulty;

'[It is] disgraceful to teach children to use weapons at a time when the scourge of knife crime among the young [is] such a problem...I have never seen anything so irresponsible. Teaching young children to use knives and guns is reprehensible but it is what you expect from such a sick and twisted party.'

Perhaps Wingfield really does believe that the BNP running kiddie gun camps is out of order - or possibly he just has a stick up his arse at the moment because Searchlight has got hold of the fact that his favourite toy - Voice of Freedom - could be about to be taken away from him (read the current issue of Searchlight for more details). Either way, he isn't any too happy as redundancy looms. Unlike his lord and master, Nick Griffin, there will be no £30,000 pay-off if he's thrown on to the scrapheap.

Other activities include rifle shooting, survival techniques and map reading.

Although the camps are supposedly for 13 to 18-year-olds, the website singles out a 12-year-old named Rachel for her expertise at rifle shooting. Those attending were given talks on "heritage and culture" and advice on how to "deal with Marxist teaching staff" or National Union of Teachers members. Another session included a talk to selected students on "nationalist politics".

The website says: "The youth wing can only get bigger and better, with older members already being fast-tracked into positions within the party. If a measure of our success is the young people involved did not want to go home at the end of the week, then we achieved it. Only the YBNP and big brother the BNP can secure a future for the indigenous children of this land."

Home Office minister Tony McNulty said it was disgraceful to teach children to use weapons at a time when the scourge of knife crime among the young was such a problem.

He added: "If this wasn't so serious it would be funny. I have never seen anything so irresponsible. Teaching young children to use knives and guns is reprehensible but it is what you expect from such a sick and twisted party."

Labour MP Jon Cruddas, who campaigns against the BNP, said: "It goes on about the breakdown of society and pretends to be the party of law and order. But at the same time it appears to be teaching kids how to use a knife."

A spokesman for the BNP refused to say where the camp was held or how many people attended. He also denied the party was acting irresponsibly, saying: "There is no problem with the responsible use of weapons. We have members who are ex-Armed Forces who are trained in this type of thing. Not everyone lives in the city. Some people live in the country where they need a knife for craftsmanship and games."

Echo of the Hitler Youth?

• The Hitler Youth was founded by Adolf Hitler in 1922. Its main aim was to recruit new members to the Nazi party.
• German teenage boys were sent to special camps to be indoctrinated in Nazi beliefs.
• There they did assault courses and were taught military strategy. They had to learn shooting, marching, bayonet drill, grenade throwing - and Nazi dogma.
• Recruits who excelled were rewarded with a dagger engraved with a swastika and the words Blood and Honour.
• In 1936, membership was made compulsory for all boys aged 15 to 18.
• Girls joined their own league to prepare them for motherhood.
• At its peak the Hitler Youth, a name suggested by the Hitler's deputy Rudolf Hess, had four million members - current Pope Benedict XVI was among them.
• The Hitler Youth shouldered the brunt of the fighting in the final defence of Berlin.
