Sheffield's golden girl Jessica Ennis has spoken of her disdain for the far-right British National Party.
World champion Ennis, whose father Vinnie is Jamaican, said: "When my dad moved to England it was a really difficult time, and I feel lucky that I'm part of this generation and not his. Still, I couldn't believe it when (BNP chairman) Nick Griffin was on (TV's) Question Time.
"I remember hearing what the BNP said about Kelly Holmes (claiming the double gold medallist was "not fully British"]. What she achieved was absolutely amazing and I don't think anyone should have the right to diminish that in the way the BNP do" she said in a magazine interview.
