The Jewish Chronicle reports that the English Defence League has established a Jewish division. The far right, anti-Islam protest group whose violent nature was exposed by the Guardian last week (and covered by the NS here) has professed support for Israel in the past and is now urging British Jews to "lead the counter-Jihad fight in England".
But its advances have been swiftly rebuffed by Jewish leaders. Mark Gardner, communications director for the Community Security Trust, told the Chronicle:
'The EDL intimidate entire Muslim communities, causing tension and fear. Jews ought to remember that we have long experience of being on the receiving end of this kind of bigotry.'Jon Benjamin, chief executive of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, said:
'The EDL's supposed 'support' for Israel is empty and duplicitous. It is built on a foundation of Islamophobia and hatred which we reject entirely.The Staggers
Sadly, we know only too well what hatred for hatred's sake can cause. The overwhelming majority will not be drawn in by this transparent attempt to manipulate a tense political conflict.'

Jews have to be mad to get involved in the EDL. The EDL constantly make reference to the Crusades of the 12th Century. The Crusaders, before setting off for the Holy Land, would take part in pogroms of Jews in their home countries. Any EDL Jewish dupes should read up on their history.

The EDl use the Israeli flag to bait Muslims. Pure and simple. Nothing else.
They are merely a white supremacist organisation relying on token others and "Uncle Toms" to give the neo-Nazi group a vestige of accontability that does not exist.
I disagree. Maybe some just use the Israeli flag just to annoy Muslims but I believe that a sizeable portion do. They are mirroring the views very pro Israel Anti Islamaphobe Geert Wilders. They genuinely believe that Israel is the front line of world Islamic domination so have no problem being pro Israel anti Muslim dropping the Nazi Tag. Just because they are not Anti Semitic doesn't mean they are not racist. They probably hate Muslims just because they are not white and just accept Sikh, Black uncle Toms who they hate but tolerate but there is genuine support for Israel. For example Geert Wilders says he would stop Third world (ie non white) immigration
I'd be very disappointed if British Jews fall in this as in the 1930's they were the aliens and they were "taking over the world" Also read right wing Bklogs like Brussels Journal and Fjordman which back me up.
This is very worrying because as in Holland a new right wing purely islamaphobic party might emerge without the Nazi baggage and will get popular support of the right wing press and popular writers like Melanie Phillips. UKIP with Lord Person started with the Islamaphobic message but hasn't pushed it too much. They could push it further or a new party emerge. Racism without anti Semitism is still racism!
