Norfolk clergy shun BNP candidate

God-botherer, fraud and all-round fruitloop, His Holiness Saint Robert West
Leading Norfolk clergymen are calling on voters in Norwich North to shun the British National Party at Thursday's by-election. In a statement, the six top churchmen repeated concerns they expressed before last month's European and county council elections - and distanced themselves from BNP candidate Robert West.

“It is important for us to do so since the British National Party candidate styles himself as 'Revd' and is often to be seen dressed as a clergyman,” they said. “He belongs to no known denomination and voters should not be misled by his adoption of clerical dress. The policies he promotes are not shared by any of the Churches we serve and are contrary to the teaching of the New Testament. There we read that in Christ 'there is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave nor free, neither male nor female' (Galatians 3.28). Christians in Norfolk and Norwich have had a long tradition of welcoming the stranger. We pray that this generous instinct may continue to be celebrated here.”

The statement is signed by the Rt Revd Graham James, Bishop of Norwich (Church of England); the Rt Revd Michael Evans, Bishop of East Anglia (Roman Catholic); the Revd Graham Thompson, East Anglia District (Methodist Church); the Revd Richard Lewis, regional minister, Norfolk (Baptist Union); the Revd Paul Whittle, moderator, Eastern Province (United Reformed Church); and John Myhill (Society of Friends).

This nutter is using his fake dog collar as an aid to getting elected, giving the impression that the Church openly supports the BNP. If that isn't fraud, I don't know what is.

If the Fake Reverend West had his way,l he'd set up a Waco-style death cult.

But voters ARE being misled by his adoption of clerical dress. Is this not a police matter? Or at least worth reporting to the Electoral Commission?

Spot on. We should ALL report West to the EC and the police.

I doubt if any actual crime is being committed. We can all set up our own church if we wanted to. There are numerous examples of dodgy Revs.

He should be challenged at every juncture as to what church he had his ordination and then he can be seen as the fraud he is.

I'm all for giving this fruitloop all the platform he wants. He is not as experienced at media matters as Griffo et al. He is another Barnbrook.

It is important that the BNP vote is kept down to show people they only became a 'force' in Europe because of the low turnout and voting system.

It's just symptomatic of BNP attempt to hijack respectable institutions and causes (Remembrance,St George etc)

Sadly, I'm afraid that you can call yourself what you like and dress as you like.

Revd is simply a courtesy title - even if you are properly ordained sky pilot. Just as Dr or Right Rev or Hon in the case of a Privy Council member.

I think it is a Quaker tradition never to use titles - that would seem to me to be the right way.

Although BNP members should of course always use the discourtesy title of Rasist Fascist Shit ;-)

Pete Green and others are right. We should all report this fake Reverend to the police and to the Electoral Commission.

Reports to the police should be made on the basis of deception and attempted fraud as he is trying to obtain a paid post as a publicly elected figure by using deception to do so. That is fraud as he is he attemting to secure a pecuniary advantage through deception.

Reports to the Electoral Commission should question why a fake Reverend is using his fake credentials to con the voters.

This is a serious matter and this particularly fake Reverend has been trying to deceive the public, media and the elctorate for far too long and seeminly getting away with it.

Now is the time to stop him and his little game of attempted cheating and deception.

Although the sentiments may be spot on, I fear an own goal here. The police/CPS and indeed the EC are not likely to entertain the notion.

The BNP loves to be attacked and arrested. Then if no charges are brought/proven they claim a victory.

We've seen this over leaflets in the past.

That's not to say that individual people should not complain (to the EC) but I feel a mass action is counter-productive. Reporting to the police is a recipe for disaster.

Let's defeat the Rev by other means.

There is no chance of a BNP triumph in Norwich. That is why they've done bugger all apart from crow about getting free Euro Star tickets of late.

West hasn't used the title "Reverend" on his nomination papers so shopping him for electoral misrepresentation isn't a runner.

You won't get an answer from the lying bastard about where he was ordained or who ordained him. Three of us spent two hours trying when we surrounded 20 of them the other Saturday. The response was for one of his goons to leap the wall separating us to assault a Hope Not Hate campaigner and for West to call the police because we were intimidating the fuckers.

He's a wuss, just like the rest of Norfolk BNP. They even bottled out of holding a press conference on the steps of Norwich City Hall when the PCS banned them from a candidates' question time.

A load of whinging whining big girls blouses.

Interesting to see Tom Linden stood at the back of the reverand

'Interesting to see Tom Linden stood at the back of the reverand'

It's an old picture taken, I think, at the first Griffin trial a few years back.

It's the license-fee wasting BBC who have gone soft on the BNP as of late. Better than prosecution of the fake religious nutter would be an expose on the National Six O Clock News that would really put the boot into the BNP.

This would have to be an old-style television investigation like the Cook Report which doesn't try to be neutral and politically correct in giving the BNP's side of the story which BBC journalists are these days trying to do, still going along with the flawed argument that the British neo-Nazi party are legitimate politicians.

@ eric the fish

I disagree. It's true we've got bugger all chance of getting him charged with anything, but the very fact that we've reported him generates a story which helps publicise the message that he is a fraud.

How ever with an interesting "Ordination" and the previous history of "Bogus" Bishops, should this person be allowed near children ?

I only ask.

Very true.

It might be interesting to note that the "Reverend" Robert West is on the books for Cambridgeshire, and possibly Lincolnshire, Local Education Authorities where he is employed on an occasional basis to teach children at local schools in Peterborrough and elsewhere.

Why should we tolerate intolerant bigots - and deceiptful false "Reverends" at that - to teach our children where they are at their most vulnerable?

The "Reverened" West needs to be stopped in his tracks, and the LEAS responsible notified that they are employing an occasional teacher with the warped realities of West.

A few contacts made with the above LEAS will soon confirm this - and hopefully - warn them.

Just heard that West has come in seventh behind the Conservatives, Labour, Lib Dems, UKIP, Greens and the "Put an Honest Man in Parliament" candidate. Just working out the percentage now.

Obviously God thought he was a cunt too.
