A is for Appeal

Mention the names of certain personalities on the far-Right and one word is certain to follow on directly after.

Money.

A certain Mr Nick Griffin's tortuous relationship with money (usually not his own) has been an on-going source of anguish for his followers and friends and a first-class entertainment for us since ever we can remember the name "Griffin" first falling into our ears. And as Mr Griffin and his long-standing love affair with money has something of the flavour and scale of a Tolstoy epic, each chapter of it being lovingly recited here, among other places, we feel no great need to recapitulate the infamously convoluted plot.

Suffice it to say that the rendering of "Griffin" as "Gri££in" on the part of his most fervent admirers did not arise as the result of a keyboard typo, nor did the phrase "I gave two Griffins and a Darby" (£25), when recounting how much one placed in one's BNP branch kitty, first surface as a slip of the tongue.

Mr Griffin, of course, has a certain friend, a Mr Patrick Harrington. Mr Harrington, as we all know, is a legend in his own unfathomable mind: pretend general secretary of a pretend "fighting union", a "Director" - no less - of the pretend Third Way "think-tank", Mr Harrington is the man who apparently "orders" anti-anti-fascist websites into existence. A man for whom the word "failure" might have been tailor-made, Mr Harrington's relationship with the national currency has, like that of his good friend Mr Griffin, been questioned on a number of occasions.

Both gentlemen appear to have been supplied with the same reading primer when in their infancy, a strange primer in which A is not for Apple, but for Appeal, of the financial variety; and both gentlemen have ever since repeated the word at regular intervals, thus demonstrating how a notion, early taught, may be fully and profitably deployed in later life.

Mr Griffin and Mr Harrington have between them made so many appeals for money so often that to detail them all would keep us here long into the night, and so we shall settle for a brief telling of the latest in the endless line of appeals made by Mr Griffin and Mr Harrington's respective organisations, the British National Party and the Third Way/National Liberal Party.

The BNP has decided that it requires another means of putting its obnoxious message across to a stubbornly non-BNP voting public, and has hit upon the wheeze of ripping off the concept of the Hope Not Hate tour bus by purchasing what it is pleased to call its "Truth Truck" (Mr Griffin's ideas are always stupendously original).

This 7.5 ton Lie Lorry, as it has been christened on an underwhelmed Stormfront Britain, is to have a state-of-the-art PA system together with light display features, and will set the BNP membership back a mere £39,000, for which the inevitable appeal has been launched.

At that price this seems to us to be not so much a Lie Lorry as a Scam Van, since we have (Friday) priced up a bespoke truck sporting all the features specified by the BNP at just short of £26,000 (including delivery to any part of the UK mainland).

The Scam Van appeal has jerked the memories of some unnecessarily awkward BNP people regarding the "Boudicca Bus", a not dissimilar past BNP venture, they posing the divisive and treacherous question - "Whatever happened to it?" in the somewhat pious hope of receiving an honest answer, or any at all.

Knowing Mr Griffin, however, the simple purchase of a Scam Van, for whatever amount, is unlikely to be the end of the matter financially. Mr Griffin, it will be remembered, many years ago declared that "The BNP is a business", and we forecast tears to come as BNP branches having the services of the vehicle foisted upon them are invoiced lavishly for the pleasure, just as the BNP is invoiced whenever the home extension built at BNP expense on a certain Welsh pig-farm is deemed to have been used for BNP business.

Compared to Mr Griffin, Mr Patrick Harrington cuts a most pathetic figure. Failing to find fame other than as an object of ridicule, Mr Harrington is obliged to pass his days maintaining his own grandiloquent Wiki page (we have seen the excised edits), scouring the Web for mentions of himself, and using his expansive imagination to invent news stories and press releases for the Solidarity website.

In April we posted on the matter of Mr Harrington's National Liberal Party intending to use its wholly bogus name to stand in ten Liberal Democrat marginal seats at the next general election, and highlighted the exceedingly curious substance of the Third Way/NLP accounts as submitted to the Electoral Commission:

And of the Third Way - what does one say about a "party" of 20 members that bores the Electoral Commission to tears with its windy account of its local election performances (successes = 0), admits to having only £88.17 in the kitty (2006), but which allegedly raised £1400 from membership subs (yet £15 x 20 = £300! - go figure), somehow managing to spend £560 of that on vague "internet services"...

According to a hastily cobbled-together explanation given by Mr Harrington on the websites "ordered" into existence by him, sometimes Third Way members give more than £15 per year in membership fees. Perhaps they do - in fact each of the 20 would need to give £70 per year to arrive at the strangely exact figure of £1400, and that is something we simply do not believe.

Exactly what the Third Way/NLP is intended to achieve - aside from cushioning Patrick Harrington from the truth of his own abject irrelevance - is unclear. For an organisation (if so large a word may be employed to describe something so insubstantial) to find itself with only twenty members after eighteen years of existence is the clearest of proofs that its only achievement has been utter failure.

However, even in the fantastically unreal world of Third Way/NLP there persists a belief that there is money to be made from the gullible and the deceived, and Mr Harrington and his colleagues have fixed themselves to make it through the mechanism of an appeal warped into the guise of a "mass donation" for "Liberty" aimed at putting £100,000 into the Third Way/NLP purse.

To this dubious end Mr Harrington has seized upon the inglorious idea of hi-jacking the 793rd anniversary of the signing of the original Magna Carta on June 15th to dupe 10,000 people into pledging £10 each on that day, and a website has existed for several days where those who wish to throw good money at this most bogus of causes are afforded the opportunity to do so.

The scheme is so sweeping, so grandiose, so magnificently divorced from any ordinary notion of reality that it can only have come from the mind of the master of unreality himself.

Calling for what he terms a "Magna Carta Moneybomb" on the Third Way website, Patrick Harrington writes:

MASS DONATION FOR LIBERTY ON JUNE 15TH!

It’s time we had a new Magna Carta to protect our rights! Once upon a time an ‘Englishman’s home was his castle’. Today it seems his door is wide open! Help us fight back by donating to liberty on Magna Carta Day on JUNE 15TH. We have produced a Liberty Video explaining how the liberties we take for granted are under attack. Please get as many people as possible to see the video. Help the National Liberal Party to campaign against a ‘Big-Brother’ state by exposing its growth and making LIBERTY an issue at future elections. Make this the largest mass donation for a political cause in the UK. Let’s make history!

Would-be donors are then directed to the tacky 15thjunemagnacarta website, with its stolen Big Brother graphic, painful "Liberty video" and "Pledge today to ensure your liberty tomorrow!" exhortation - which perhaps better translates as "ensuring" something not too far removed from the servicing of regular expenses claims on the part of certain Third Way/NLP individuals.

As he has throughout his indistinguished career on the far-Right, Mr Harrington has undoubtedly concocted for himself yet another stratagem by which he will be seen to fail, and fail badly, largely because the man seems to be incapable of connecting with the real world - the one in which most people would not expect 10,000 people to visit a crude website rushed up by an unknown and bogus think-tank-cum-political party, all of them to do it on a single day and to pledge £10 in return for some vague and meaningless statement about "liberty".

Given the sheep-like mentality so wincingly exhibited by the BNP membership-at-large, it is highly probable that they will dig deep to provide Mr Griffin with his £39,000 Scam Van, and we confidently predict that the vehicle will not be seen outside of the North-west of England for the duration of the Euro-elections next year - which may well be the only real reason for having one in the first place.

For Mr Harrington, of vaulting aspiration fueled by an unchained imagination, there awaits only an unpleasant encounter with reality on Sunday, June 15th. Like Mr Harrington, we'll be watching his graphs with great interest as they rise towards the 10,000 pledges, £100,000 mark.

Or not.

You would think BNP members would be concerned at Griffins choice of playmate, and his role in Solidarity, wouldn't you?

Scam Van, Lie Lorry, Griffinmobile. Let's have a vote!

Another day another ripoff by the BNP. The truck must have gold plated hubcaps if it costs 39k. As for Harrington he's desperate to get paid a wage by Turd Way, the appeal's got stuff all to do with liberty.

A great many are, but they don't really have much of a say in what Gri££in does, do they?

Most BNP members just aren't bothered or even aware of the big onion. Harrington never wanted it to be a very big onion anyway, just big enough to pay his very modest household bills so he doesnt have to return to work as a trolley dolly on the railways.

Science fact #1. If you hold your nose while biting into an onion (big or small), it tastes no different from an apple....

Griffin is currently building up to his biggest fundraising scam of all, getting elected to the European Parliament. The BNP hates Europe and the main reason it places so much importance on the European elections next year is so that Griffin and co can get their hand on the money.

We have seen in the furore over Giles Chichester how easy it is for MEPs to claim huge sums in expenses with hardly any checks on how the money is spent. Griffin is salivating over the prospect even more than over his "two weaners".

Richard Barnbrook's election to the London Assembly has already given a big financial boost to the BNP but it is nothing compared to what the BNP would get with MEPs especially if they can join with their fascist mates from France, Austria, Italy (Griffin's old comrade Roberto Fiore is now an MEP) and other countries and form a group. European Parliament funding would completely transform the BNP financially.

We have to concentrate our efforts now on stopping them. Forget about the RWB festival, there is no prospect of stopping it and it is irrelevant. It is the European elections that matter.

Nobody would have cared about the RWB if we'd ignored it, agree there Marianne.

Excellent post Denise! A very well-written piece that truly takes the **** out of these fraudulent characters, Messrs Griffin and Harrington.

It does seem so that at times fact and irony tend to merge into reality and with Griffin and Harrington this odd-ball couple of confidence tricksters are more parody than fiction could ever invent.

Still, if the borg mentality of the BNP/Third Way membership like to sleepwalk to their bank accounts being emptied by these pair then it's their own sorry state of affairs.

They deserve what they get.

Meanwhile the Great Fantasist himself, the one and only Patrick Harrington, continues to make a mega-arsehole of himself.

Your superb description of him, though maybe tongue in cheek, is yet so accurate in real life!

"European Parliament funding would completely transform the BNP financially."

Do you honestly believe that Griffin would allow any money to go to the BNP? Have you seen how much the BNP spend on political campaigning? There are requests for money on every page of the BNP party newspaper, and it never goes anywhere near helping the party.

Pat Harrington is Nick Griffin's poor cousin. He is a very cheap reproduction of the Artful Dodger, faded and jaded.

Whilst his old mate Nick is banging in the coins into his coffers, the Poor Man's Griffin, Mr Harrington, is having to chuck up cheap and tatty websites to make exhortations to Joe Public to toss a few quid his way on the basis of some loose appeals about 'liberty'. Harrington is the quintessential loser.

Yes, indeed, 'A' is for Arsehole.

I see that Lancaster Unity have a good post about our rip-off nationalist leaders and their "appeals" for money.

They may be our enemies but we do seem to agree on one thing and that is the disgraceful behaviour of people like Nick Griffin and Patrick Harington.

Their analyses of the Griffinite-led BNP and the corruption of Griffin and some of his acolytes like Harrington are often very accurate.

I do tend to think though that with people like that leading the nationalist movement then the far-Left should really be supporting Griffin and Harrington. After all, it is those very leaders who are responsible for holding back the advance of nationalism in this country.Griffin and Harrington are doing the work of the enemy with their actions.

It is a good post. We don't have anyone to match Denise. She's always good reading and writes with style. You don't usually get that from the left. BUT she's not from the left. She's a Conservative so she's not got all that left wing baggage and knows how to slant her propoganda.

**I do tend to think though that with people like that leading the nationalist movement then the far-Left should really be supporting Griffin and Harrington.**

That's where your wrong. Denise and Ketlan are deliberately undermining support for Cyclops and going easy on the hardliners and VOC/rebels/Auty. Didn't you notice how focused her attack on Cyclops was in her Nine Years Of Vision And Vermin article?

That article could have appeared here but nobody would have took any notice because of the hatchet job Cyclops and co done on you.

She knew that article would be used by nationalists to attack Cyclops, thats why she wrote it. She was feeding them ammunition.

She's playing a clever game and one day she'll do the same to you as she's doing to Cyclops.

I checked out the Magna Carta "Bombshell Appeal" or whatever it;s called and noticed that as soon as Unity had published the article about the scam appeal Harrington and his cronies seem to have doodled a line on their graph!

It now seems that according to this squiggle 250 individuals (no doubt either Third Way supporters who have got more disposable income than common sense or intelligence, or people who have been lobotimised) have donated. The total amount of donations allegedly to date is £500. I make that two quid per individual. If you believe in fairy tales then so far 250 individuals have pledged £2 each. Mmm...

Either that or a Third Way businessman has donated £499 (for tax purposes no doubt) and Harrington has chucked in a quid to make it look even.

Harrington and his Third Way cronies must think we were all born yesterday.

They're some of the biggest liars and con merchants in politics today.

Anonymous said...

The lying toerag's claiming 500 have donated £1000 now.

Yeah, sure. By Sunday they'll have a million...

Tell you what Harrington, your accounts are sure gonna make for interesting reading, eh, Billy Liar? 'Cos whatever you put up there you're gonna have to declare to the Electoral Commission, and if you don't we've got the screen grabs.

Harrington is trying to copy his comic book hero Nick Griffin in the use of a vehicle to push forward his political message.

Unfortunately for Harrington his union cheque book doesn't cover a truck or a lorry, so he's put out an appeal for people to donate to his 'mission moped'.

Pat will be riding his one-man moped around the country trying to drum up support for his failed National Liberal Party, wearing a union jack helmet and mod parka and distributing copies of his manifesto whereby he will try to convince voters that he is no longer a racist and that he actually believes in a non-racist society.

Btw, do you think Patrick 'Failure' Harrington will now try another 'useful' career now that he has perhaps realised that he is a failure in politics and that he can't screw as much money from the gullible as he once believed?

Perhaps not. The man is clearly in a dangerous state of delusion and if someone were to wake him out of his delusional state it might damage him further.

This is on NW Nationalsist blog about Third Way and their appeal:

"Anonymous said...

According to the Third Way sister site promoting the 15th June Magna Carta 'Money Bombshell' Appeal they have allegedly 'raised' £1100.

They claim that "110 people" have donated "£10" each to their fund.

Believe that and you'll believe anything.

I'd rather believe that a little green tooth-fairy takes your teeth in exchange for sixpence if you hide it beneath your pillow, then believe in the lies and falsehoods of the well-known liars at Third Way.

The fact is that as soon as their sordid little money-making scheme was exposed by NW Nationalists the Third Way lot immediately removed the graph showing donations from the Magna Carta web page for the simple fact that NO ONE was donating.

Instead they added a box on the web site that makes the claim that 110 people have supposedly donated £1100.

The questions that I would like to ask these creative accountants at Third Way is,

"Isn't it rather coincidental that ALL 110 supposed donors have donated EXACTLY £10 each to your fund?"

Not one of these supposed donors has given, say £5, or £15, or £20, for instance.

"And isn't 110 donors convenient round figure?"

Not 98 donors, or 108, 111, or 118, or whatever, but the nice round figure of 110 which is nice and convenient to put forward the rather impressive figure of £1100 total donations.

" Given the fact that the 15th June Magna Carta web site has attracted virtually nil traffic, isn't it totally deceitful and false to make the claim that of all the (negligble) visitors to this little-known web site that as many as 110 individuals have suddenly pledged £1100 to your appeal?"

"And, last but not least, considering the appeal for the National Liberal Party - sorry, the campaign to raise awareness for liberty - has been set up so late and the actual Magan Carta Day is 15th June (just some 5 days away) - isn't,

(a) the alleged and distinctly spurious claim that £1100 has been suddenly raised in a matter of a few days so preposterous as to constitute a false claim, and

(b)the time scale as constructed by Third Way (allegedly a "think tank")to raise "£10,000" so ridiculous and unreal, as Magna Carta Day is 15th June, as to make you lot a complete laughing stock.

No sensible and rational nationalist, let alone the public, can EVER take Third Way and its political party, the National Liberal Party, seriously ever again.

Third Way/National Liberal Party, are now the biggest jokes in politics.

They sneaked in through the Electoral Commission a name so similar to the Liberal Democrats, deliberately using a name that is likely to confuse Lib Dem voters - and brazenly bragged about it on Stormfront (in essence, trying to get cheap votes through deception).

They try and make out that their total funds as submitted to the Electoral Commission are solely the result of membership subscriptions, whereas it far exceeds the amount that could possibly be secured through those means alone (which begs the question where are the other funds coming from and why are those sources being withheld).

Now they set up front groups and front webs sites in craven attempts to get people to donate to their National Liberal Party on the spurious grounds that that donors are giving to a genuine campaign in support of Magan Carta, whereas it it is just as likely to be going
to fill the coffers of the National Liberal Party election machine.

And they make craven claims that they are raising substantial claims of money for their appeal.

We were not all born yesterday, even though many of the Third Way/National Liberal Party people seem to have been.

Maybe these people have been studying at the Nick Gri££in School of Political Accountancy?"

Anonymous said...

To make up for the shambolic Third Way Magna Carta-thon appeal maybe Pat Harrington and his bunch of fascist losers ought to stage a Wank-a-thon?

It could be billed by Third Way as 'National Wanking Day'.

I can't think of anyone more appropriate to represent National Wanking Day as the 'Great Wanker' himself, Patrick Harrington.

He could always get the Edinburgh Chapter of his Prostitutes Section of Solidarity to run a sponsored 'cash in hand' charity event.

I believe that Pat Harrington is scared of coming out as he feels that it would damage his reputation as a fascist and former NF hard core nazi.

According to the scam site created by Third Way/National Liberal Party to raise "campaign funds" toraise interest in "liberty" some 205 individuals allegedly donated £10 each to raise £2,050.

Can you REALLY vbeleive yet more lies from Pat Harrington and his "PR specialist" Graham Williamson?

No way have 205 individuals actually donated £10 each to raise an alleged total of £2,050,
(a) there cannot be that many stupid and gullible people who are so eaily parted from their money for the scam appeal made by Third Way,
(b) £10 each per individual is too convenient. I am sure some would have donated £5 or more, rather than everyone giving £10.

We all know it's yet ANOTHER lie from Harrington & Co but at the end of the day these idiots were loudly proclaiming that they would raise £100,000 for liberty!

An alleged total of £2,050 is far, far short of the promised goal of £100,000.

Looks like Pat Harrington has been having another 'Fantasy Moment' yet again.
