Police probe after the BNP parades fake soldier Walker

Toy soldier Adam Walker and BNP leader Nick Griffin chat to the punters
A controversial BNP election candidate is being investigated by police after he posed as a soldier

Adam Walker wore desert fatigues while campaigning alongside the far-right party’s leader, Nick Griffin. But Walker, 41 – who is standing in Bishop Auckland, County Durham – is no longer a serving member of the Armed Forces and might have broken the law by dressing as one.

Police were alerted when a member of the public made a complaint.Walker, who was a member of the Royal Armoured Corps from 1985 to 1990, claims he has done nothing wrong. At the rally in Barking, Essex, last weekend, he was asked if he was a real soldier and admitted he wasn’t. But he said: “I’m wearing this uniform in solidarity with our boys in Afghanistan.”

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “We have received a complaint and officers will now decide what action, if any, is required.”

Walker could be charged with a breach of the 1894 Uniforms Act which says that wearing a military uniform without permission can “bring contempt” on the Army. If convicted, he could face up to a month in prison or a hefty fine.

His appearance at the rally was labelled “disgraceful” by serving soldiers and Forces’ organisations. A spokesman for the ABF soldiers’ charity said: “There is no place in the Army for racism or politics. Nick Griffin should know better.” One soldier using an online forum said: “This is disgraceful. The scumbag should be prosecuted.”

A Ministry of Defence spokesman said: “Neither serving nor retired military personnel are permitted to wear uniform in support of political activities as this could undermine the impartiality of the Armed Forces.”

It is not the first time that former teacher Walker, of Spennymoor, County Durham, has attracted controversy. In 2007, he was caught posting alleged slurs against asylum seekers, immigrants and homosexuality on the BNP’s website during lesson time at the sports college where he worked. He left the college shortly after the scandal broke but claimed the comments had no link to his work. He is awaiting a General Teacher Council hearing.

British National Party Voters Don't Exist

16 Comment (s)
In fact NONE of them are anything to do with the BNP frauds
In the last few days the British National Party (BNP) have started to deliver their campaign leaflets. There are at least two varieties but they are both quite similar and their main campaigning point is against immigration.

You can see leaflets delivered by the BNP around the UK thanks to The Straight Choice a website dedicated to mapping campaign leaflets. The current leaflets feature a section titled “Why we’re all voting BNP” with photos accompanied by a bit of text, presumably this is to encourage people to think BNP voters are just like you. Unfortunately for the BNP none of these voters are real and you can prove it by using web-based reverse image searches.

The Doctor

“I’m voting BNP because I see what immigration has done to the NHS. As a Doctor I want to see an end to ‘health tourists’ and to make sure British nurses are employed and paid fairly.”

Search for this image on tineye and you’ll quickly find out that this image has been used on a number of websites and that you can buy it to use royalty free from a stock photo website. The image was taken by an American photographer probably in 2006.

The Pensioners

“We’ve seen how this country has declined under the present government and we’re voting BNP because they will put pensioners before asylum seekers and ensure our future. We’re with the British National Party because it’s not fair that people who’ve worked hard and paid in all their lives are pushed to the back of the queue behind bogus asylum seekers.”

Search for this image on tineye and lo and behold it is available from the same stock photo website. Looking at the stock photo website you can find out the models are called Deanna and Mario.

The Soldier

“We’re fed up of being sent ill-equipped into foreign wars. The BNP will bring our troops home and ensure that British soldiers are not abused on the streets of our cities by Muslims.”

Again, search using tineye you can find that it’s from a different stock photo website. What’s particularly amusing here is that the photo is of an Irish guardsman, which is funny because the Irish are not British, Britain is made up of England, Scotland and Wales. [Some mistake there, surely]

The Mother

“As a mother and wife I want to ensure that our children have a future. Our taxes should be invested in education and job creation, not wasted on paying bureaucrats or bankers’ bonuses.”

Searching tineye once again tells us this photo is entitled “Love my Mommy!” and was taken by another American photographer. The only conclusion I can make is that no real BNP voters were keen enough to appear on the leaflets.

The BNP are not the first people to send out leaflets with fake people on, when there was a decision to be made on whether Manchester should have city centre congestion charging leaflets were printed encouraging people to vote ‘YES’ with case studies showing how people would be better off, again, none of the people were real (Manchester Evening News: C-charge ‘locals’ don’t exist).

BNP councillor David Enderby loses appeal against violent assaults

46 Comment (s)
Redditch British National Party councillor David Enderby has lost his appeal against criminal convictions for assaulting his estranged wife and mother-in-law.

Enderby lashed out after flying into a rage and barging into a family birthday celebration. During the melée, he grabbed his wife, Jane, and his mother-in-law, Noel Campion, causing bruising, as children at the party screamed and cried. Enderby also picked up a 14-year-old girl and flung her across the living room.

After he was manhandled outside, he drove off but was later arrested by police and spent the night in the cells before being charged.

Enderby, aged 46, of Winyates East, pleaded not guilty to the three assaults when he appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates Court in January but was convicted and fined £300 with £100 costs. But he appealed against the convictions and a two-day hearing was held at Worcester Crown Court, ending on Friday. All three appeals were dismissed and he was ordered to pay £200 towards the Crown's costs.

Judge Daniel Pearce-Higgins QC said: "What should have been a happy event turned into a disaster."

The appeal hearing was told that Enderby and his wife had split up in January 2004 and she had gone to live with her mother and stepfather in Greenlands. She had taken their three children with her.

Divorce proceedings have been started. In the original divorce petition, Mrs Enderby said her husband had been violent towards her during the marriage, a claim Enderby disputed.

The assaults took place in June last year after Enderby had gone by arrangement to the extended family's home to deliver birthday presents. But, according to John Brotherton, barrister for the Crown, he flew into a rage when he walked into the house uninvited and was told by his estranged wife and mother-in-law to leave.

Enderby then barged into the living room to retrieve the presents he had taken, which is when the assaults took place, the court heard. In evidence, former soldier Enderby, who was elected to the council less than two months before the incident, claimed he never assaulted anyone and that he himself had been the victim of assault.

Enderby said he had been held so tightly round the throat he was unable to speak afterwards. He added he had been trying to get out of the house when he was manhandled and had not been attempting to resist.
