Teenager admits sickening mosque attack

A teenager shouted racial abuse as he kicked and stamped on a 71-year-old grandfather’s head for 10 minutes. And he later sent a sickening text boasting about his horrifying actions.

At Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, the 16-year-old – who cannot be named for legal reasons – pleaded guilty to carrying out the vicious attack outside the Ayrshire Central Mosque in July. His victim, who had already suffered a stroke, sustained severe facial injuries in the unprovoked attack which took place in the early hours of the morning.

Nancy Beresford, prosecuting, said that the former Crosshouse shopkeeper had gone to the mosque, in Hill Street, Kilmarnock, to prepare for Friday prayers at around 1.40am. As he approached the door, clad in white robes, he noticed a male and two females, along with young children, standing in the street, with another group of females nearby.

The 16-year-old then came towards him shouting abuse, including “Paki bastard”. He punched the pensioner in the chest, causing him to fall to the ground. The teenager continued the assault, while still shouting abuse.

Said Mrs Beresford: “He became unconscious as a result of the attack. He was not aware of anything further until he woke up later in hospital.”

The assault was, however, witnessed, by two people watching from a flat in Hill Street.

“Their attention was attracted by shouting,” said Mrs Beresford. “They saw a figure lying on the ground and noticed the male attacker was kicking and stamping on the prostrate man’s head. This continued for what they thought was about 10 minutes.”

The attacker ran off into Witch Road.

The assault victim – described as a pillar of the community and well-known in the Kilmarnock area for 40 years by the chairman of the mosque – was found lying in a pool of blood by two other members of the mosque. He was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital. He was found to have a number of severe facial fractures and swelling. Fortunately, however, he had no fractures to his skull.

Mrs Beresford said that, as a result of media reports, police received a number of anonymous calls naming the attacker. CCTV evidence also established that he had been in the area at the time of the assault. And footage from cameras at the Diageo plant in Hill Street showed a male matching his description walking towards the mosque with two girls.

Mrs Beresford said that police were able to identify and trace one of the females. She named the accused.

Said Mrs Beresford: “She described him punching him, knocking him to the ground and kicking and stamping on him several times. A further witness had received a text message from him in the early hours stating: ‘I have just left a Paki in a puddle of blood’.”

Police swooped on the teenager’s home where they failed to find him, but seized a number of items. He was later discovered hiding in the loft of a Kilmarnock house. Interviewed, he denied the assault and racial abuse.

The 16-year-old told police that he couldn’t understand “why somebody was praying at that time in the morning”.

Allan Kerr, defending, told Sheriff Iona McDonald that she would require to obtain reports before sentencing the teenager as he was 16 and subject to the supervision of the Children’s Panel.

“He is presently at a place of safety,” said the solicitor.

Sheriff McDonald deferred sentence until next month for a social work report and the advice of the Children’s Panel. She told the teen: “You have pleaded guilty to a serious assault. It is nothing short of appalling.”

Nick Griffin that is. I guess I'll give it the response it deserves..

And he is as they say, "on one". That is, that he is not a happy bunny.

"I'm sure that you, like me, are absolutely sick of all the lies and PC nonsense that the BBC pump out". I'm a little confused. Is he asking me or telling me?

As it happens, I am though. I can barely watch Question Time since Griffin soiled the show with his presence. Ruddy PC "nonsense" that it was. Why couldn't they just let him burn his cross? All this chit-chat that those liberal lefites insist on ruined it for me.

And, asks Griffin, do I "Remember the last time they tried to destroy us? Panorama used a turncoat branch organiser who was working as a paid informer for the far-left Searchlight operation, and an undercover reporter". Well of course I do. I went for a bloody curry with him the night before the programme went out. Good curry, great programme. Or should that be visa versa?

Anyway, old Nick's not emailed me to catch up. He wants me to cough up. Like bloody kids these BNP types are, they only ever write when they want something.

"They’ve mocked and subverted our Christian religion and British traditions" he writes. Surely he doesn't mean the Queen wasn't taking her Christmas Day speech seriously, again? But mention Christmas and you can bet that a mention of Muslims won't be far behind. And here it comes (verbatim):

"If the BBC and the police had listened to us and investigated our evidence about the Muslim paedophile drug rape gangs, thousands of innocent children and their families wouldn't have had their lives torn apart and ruined".

That's bloody strong stuff. Yep, he even underlined it. But why only "Muslim" paedophiles? Only last year two BNP members from Blackburn were convicted as part of a paedophile gang. Are BNP members allowed to be paedophiles then, Nick?

What about Nigel Hesmondhalgh from Hyndburn, Lancashire? He was in the BNP and put on the sex offenders register only last January. Or perhaps Kevin Alfred Storm? Surely Griffin has not forgotten the time he spent with the man who pleaded guilty to possession of child abuse images in 2008?

Why, only yesterday another BNP candidate pleaded guilty to possession and distribution of child pornography. As you will not have read about it on the BNP's website, here is a brief reminder of what this great defender of "our Christian religion and British traditions" looks like.

Then Nick's email gets a bit strange. "See the tools your generosity has already given us". We know exactly what Clive Jefferson and Adam Walker look like, thanks very much. Isn't that a bit rough, calling them tools though?

The BBC are then accused of being "employers of murderers and child rapists". Hmmm, some may recall that David Copeland, the Nazi nail bomber was a former member of the BNP. But let's not keep dredging that up. How about something more recent?

Ok, how about Darren Francis, described as "every parents worst nightmare" (http://www.hopenothate.org.uk/news/article/1680/bnp-paedophile-jailed) or Roderick Rowley a BNP candidate for law and order in Coventry who was jailed for 15 months after sending obscene images involving children to others.

Still not ring a bell? Oh well, the BNP's "research team" has apparently uncovered all kinds of filth at the BBC, an employer of tens thousands of people compared to the 5396 members that the BNP has.

It takes only a few moments to uncover the perverts in the BNP. "Granny Porn" anyone? This must be part of that huge conspiracy I keep hearing about. The last time the BNP's "research" team put in such an effort, they (seriously) managed to write a full report about how many Jews worked at the BBC. This included a children’s TV presenter who was among the forty or so Jews that the BNP described as "mindbenders".

Griffin's getting all upset of course about an upcoming show by Panorama exposing all kinds of stuff that the naughty nutty neo-Nutzis have been up to with some filthy lucre. "Make no mistake, we're in for a rough half hour when that programme goes out" Griffin continues.

On this point I disagree most strongly. I shall be watching it in the comfort of my living room, while I suspect some other recipients of his begging email will be hot footing it across the country.

So, I guess I'll refuse to donate (there is a link to a donate button no less than three times in his angry missive) and will save my money to buy a large glass of the bubbly stuff for my colleagues. We're proud to have dug that grave the BNP's is falling headfirst into.

An accident waiting to happen?

A by election has been called in the St Helens ward of Barnsley council for October 13th following the resignation of the Labour councillor Roy Butterwood.

Once seen as a BNP stronghold despite never actually winning an seat there, BNP support in the area has gradually ebbed away and the local branch like others around the country, is in disarray.

Local party moral is so low that when the by election was announced the prospective BNP candidates were scarce on the ground.

Eventually Danny Cooke, the Yorkshire deputy regional organiser put his name forward.

In a piece on the BNP website, (probably penned by himself), the self titled “Hardworking Yorkshire Deputy Organiser” announces his candidature and appeals for assistance in the election campaign. As part of his appeal, Cooke includes his contact details including a very interesting email address.

The chilling reason why that email address is of interest is that it was part of the mailing list used by Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik.

Breivik is the Norwegian right wing extremist and self confessed killer of 69 people, mostly teenagers in July of this year, and who sent out his “manifesto” entitled 2083 – A European Declaration of Independence
to a select group of people he believed shared his twisted ideology. One of those who he chose to send it to was Danny Cooke.

Now we certainly aren’t saying that Cooke is another Breivik, but there are certainly a number of worrying traits in his personality.

He has a conviction for affray for which he received a community order and also has a particular liking for rape jokes.

Most worrying of all were comments Cooke made around the
time the murderer Raoul Moat was at large in the north east. In one comment Cooke claimed that “He fancied doing a Raoul Moat” and in another comment claimed that “Listening to Raoul Moat tapes is like listening to me talking to my GP”

Cooke appears to be an accident waiting to happen, we hope the people of St Helens send him packing as we expect that they will.

As we reported yesterday the clock is ticking for the BNP.

There is an old and familiar saying that Nick Griffin would be wise in taking heed in relation to this matter. The saying goes that “People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones”.

Nick Griffin on his Twitter account wrote today “Banks not only corrupt but stupid. Anyone who gives a young West African access to their bank account deserves to be cleaned out. UBS might just as well have given their details to an email scammer “

That’s more than a bit rich given the state of Britain’s supposedly superior all-white party. It appears the BNP has failed in their attempts to raise the required £45,000 needed to halt the winding up order against the party. No surprises there, then.

So with the bailiffs knocking on the door once again we have to wonder what Nick Griffin and the BNP’s next move may be, perhaps the answer lies in Scotland?

We can reveal that some senior BNP officers have set up two new limited companies at the same Edinburgh address used by the fake BNP trade union Solidarity.

One of the companies “Heritage Protection Concerns Ltd” has some very familiar names listed as it officers. Jennifer Matthys, daughter of Nick Griffin is listed as company secretary, along with her hapless husband Angus.

Also listed is party manager Adam Walker who appears to be named as a director of the company. Walker is already in debt on behalf of the party to the tune of £20,000 .

Another company listed at the address is the rather grandly titled “Europa Social Political & Economic Research Establishment Ltd”.

The Edinburgh address just happens to belong to Patrick Harrington, who runs a tiny political sect called “Third Way”. The former NF leader and General Secretary of the fake trade union Solidarity now acts as a consultant to Nick Griffin while on the party’s payroll in the European Parliament as well as putting candidates up against the BNP when it suits him.

Have these two new companies been set up as a means of protecting the BNP’s assets perhaps?

As for the party’s other assets, they have lost their last remaining councillor in West Yorkshire today too. He held out as long as he could, but it seems that Tom Baites could bear it no more and this morning resigned the BNP whip for Illingworth and Mixenden ward on Calderdale council.

What with Baites gone, there would also appear to be a hunt on for the allegedly missing webmaster Chris Barnett. Apparently he’s just vanished into thin air.

Not that the BNP are telling anyone about any of this. What with Griffin tweeting away about untrustworthy Africans and the party press officer continuing his well worn habit of berating everything and everyone other than his falling Fuhrer, you’d think it was all going like clockwork for the BNP. The problem is, that clock is ticking too fast for them...

One of our sources inside the BNP rung us a moment ago to say that they feel compelled to close all of the windows just to stop BNP officers throwing themselves from them. Still, at least they managed to get their nominations in for a by-election in Barnsley on time. That too is a bit of a gift, and we’ll be blogging about it later today when we have finished laughing.

The party is still trying to carry on regardless, no doubt tweeting that it needs more cash donations etc, etc. But they do have one secret weapon. They have Charlie Wythe from Manchester. He has apparently just stepped into carry out some design work for the party. The freelancer is obviously not expecting payment?

Seventy-five years ago, 4 October 1936. The people of the East End united to stop Sir Oswald Mosley's blackshirted British Union of Fascists from marching through their community.

An estimated 100,000 gathered to prevent this parade of anti-semitic hate behind the slogan 'They shall not pass'. After hours of confrontation, sometimes violent, centred on Cable Street Mosley was forced to abandon his march. They did not pass!

The clock is ticking

The clock is ticking on the BNP. The membership's money has all been spent. Desperate creditors are in some cases resorting to extreme measures to recover monies owed. Senior members are now being held liable for the party's debts.

Some BNP officials have literally gone into hiding as the clock ticks down and there is still no further word on whether Nick Griffin can raise the £45,000 needed to fight off a winding up order against the party.

A BBC documentary is preparing to go to air next week with a programme that will fully expose what they have uncovered in just a few short months of digging into the BNP's finances. The content of the documentary is going to be to say the least, explosive.

One faction in the BNP has gone out of its way in desperation to help the BBC. Last weekend the BNP's leadership invited the BBC to film them at a meeting, giving the BBC the impression that they were going to be allowed to put a number of serious allegations to the leadership. But instead, like spoilt children, the BNP read out a bizarre statement while another senior figure berated the BBC over of all things, given today's news, paedophilia.

Tomorrow it is expected that moves will be made to both bankrupt BNP leader Nick Griffin and have the party placed in administration. This last ditch effort by the anti-Griffin faction is in the hope that the party will be able to come out of administration with a new leader. It's a desperate act, particularly when you consider how badly Mrs Griffin reacted just to having the family's Skoda repossessed by the courts.

And while all of this is going on (each side knows what evil deeds the other is up to) they continue to try and outdo each other on internet forums with personal attacks, threats, impersonation and intimidation. Fantastic stuff to read it is too, and the longer it goes on, the less chance there would appear to be of anyone actually saving the BNP. Yesterday a statement was issued in the name of anti-Griffinite and former London regional organiser Chris Roberts. In the statement, Roberts decided to throw his weight back behind Nick Griffin a move that had the potential to split the anti-Griffin camp right down the middle. It read as a very plausible statement by Roberts. It actually turns out that although it was written by Roberts, it was written during another crisis a few years ago when he decided to come to the aid of Nick Griffin. Roberts is reportedly most unimpressed.

Our sources in the party report that two senior Griffin supporters are threatening that if they go down, they will take the entire leadership with them. All the cash cookies appear to have been taken from the cookie jar.

Some people are asking what has happened to the money the party collected for their Association of British ex-servicemen (ABEX).

And if as feared the European Parliament suspends payments to the party, one party loyalist is prepared to go to the media with what he thinks will more than cover the shortfall in wages. Sadly for him, we already have the story and not the sanitised for his benefit version he is trying to sell to Fleet Street.

The anti-Griffin faction are preparing to wheel out former NF Chairman and jailbird Martin Wingfield as an interim Chairman should they be successful with their plans.

Tomorrow should be interesting.

A leading East Midlands BNP official & candidate has pleaded guilty to possession and distribution of child pornography.

Gavin Leist, the Charnwood BNP secretary appeared at Leicester Crown Court on September 7th following a discovery of a large quantity of child pornography.

Leist who is believed to have been a life member of the BNP stood as their candidate in Leicestershire’s county council elections in 2009.

He will return to Leicester Crown Court in October to hear his sentence.

Asbo for racist protest at world music festival

A protester with a far-right group hurled racist abuse at hundreds of people who had gathered for a world music festival.

Tony Thomsen wrapped an English flag around his head and shouted during the festival in Queens Gardens, city centre. He was part of an English Defence League (EDL) rally, a far-right group which opposes what it terms as "Muslim extremism".

Thomsen, 40, of Rosedale Avenue, east Hull, has now been given an antisocial behaviour order (Asbo) after being convicted of being drunk and disorderly at the event on June 25.

The world music festival had been organised as part of Hull Refugee Week, which aims to challenge negative stereotypes, and attracted crowds of up to 2,000. Ben Butler, project co-ordinator at the Asylum Seekers and Refugees Kingston Upon Hull (ARKH) group, said: "It was quite intimidating. The event was all about community cohesion and families and it was intimidating for the people who were present.

"What confuses me is the EDL claims to be a single-issue group, against Islamic fundamentalism. I can't understand why members would turn up at a family event celebrating world music that had no religious connections and start shouting racist abuse. I get the feeling the EDL focus on Islamic fundamentalism as a bit of a smokescreen for general hatred. Most of the bands were members of the international community living in Hull and there were some English bands who do world music. It was a really cross-cultural event."

PC Russell Moore, antisocial behaviour officer for Hull, said everyone had the right to peaceful demonstrations.

"But equally, everybody has the right to go about their business without being harangued, abused or insulted," he said. "He seems to think he can do that and it is totally unacceptable. We can't stop people demonstrating, but if they behave like this, getting drunk and racially abusing people, they will be dealt with."

Thomsen, who recently changed his name from Tony Handley, was convicted in 2003 of daubing racist abuse on a private property in Spring Bank, city centre.

Under the Asbo, which lasts for two years, Thomsen is banned from drinking alcohol in a public place and causing harassment, alarm or distress to others. If he breaches the order, he could be jailed for up to five years. Thomsen was also fined £100 and made to pay £250 court costs after being sentenced at Hull Magistrates' Court.

How loyalists got out of step with fascism

Britain's far right groups welcomed links with Protestant paramilitaries, but Henry McDonald delves into a new book which reveals that this strange alliance eventually ended in betrayal.

Recalling his days selling race-hate literature in London's East End, Matthew Collins says: "We took the traditional Brick Lane Sunday drink with the BNP that day, watching strippers and eating a selection of mussels and whelks off the bar."

All they would have needed was a Cockney-style sing-song of Horst Wessel Lied and Deutschland Uber Alles around the old Joanna and that would have topped off a perfect National Socialist Sabbath for Matthew and his comrades.

The above memory isn't the only unintentionally hilarious anecdote contained within Collins' new book, Hate - a recollection of his time both in the National Front and the British National Party.

His evolution from the son of an Irish Catholic father to a fascist street fighter mouthing mantras of 'No Surrender to the IRA' is peppered with bizarre and often achingly funny passages, which in turn highlight how absurd, perverse and out of touch with reality most of his far right chums actually were back in the 1990s.

There are, however, more sinister segments of the book and they include his relationship with Ulster loyalists who had latched onto the NF and other neo-Nazi organisations in Britain.

Of these the most prominent is Eddie Whicker, a UDA member from Belfast who became somewhat of a personality on the London far right scene at the time Collins was an active fascist. Whicker was one of the most militant of the extreme right street thugs taking on leftists, some of whom marched in pro-IRA rallies in the UK capital and other British cities.

Reading Collins' fascinating memoir raised questions as to how useful, if at all, the various parties and groups on the far right were to the Ulster loyalist cause. The answer to that question, taking a long view of history, would be hardly at all. In fact, Hate confirms the analysis put forward by the likes of the late David Ervine that the far right's embrace of the loyalist cause was nothing short of embarrassing.

There can be no doubting the connections established from the early 1970s onwards between the NF, BNP and the more extreme Combat 18 to the two main loyalist paramilitary organisations. On a political and, dare one say social level, the disparate British far right were the only supporters of the Ulster loyalist cause in Britain.

Apart from their traditional allies in Scotland, particularly within the Orange Order and the Rangers football team's support base, loyalism's allies were few and far between.

While loyalists across the sea could feel very much at home in parts of Scotland's central belt or the Ayrshire coast, your average working class Ulster Protestant would feel a greater sense of isolation in English cities, particularly the multi-cultural/racial conurbations.

As Collins attests to in his book, the NF and other rival organisations at least provided a home for an Ulster loyalist away from home but still in touch with the cause.

Logistically, the efficacy of British neo-Nazi help for loyalist armed groups has been wildly exaggerated. There were a number of gun running plots such as the one involving Frank Portinari, an English UDA member of Italian Catholic extract in direct touch with 'C' Company and a friend of the UDA killer John White.

The important thing to remember about Portinari's gun smuggling operation was that it was soon busted by the security forces.

In reality the people who gained the most out of British fascism's embrace of loyalism were MI5 and Special Branch.

Charlie Sergeant, for instance, crops up several times in Collins' book as a prominent Combat 18 thug and strong supporter of Ulster loyalists. Yet after Sergeant was tried and convicted of stabbing a rival neo-Nazi to death it transpired he was also a police informant whose work included spying on any potential loyalist arms smuggling operations in the south-east of England.

The Ulster Volunteer Force did, of course, meet with the extreme neo-Nazi Belgian VMO in the early 1980s. The Flemish fascists were fascinated with the home-made engineering skills of Ulster loyalists who were manufacturing their own sub-machine guns. In return, the VMO promised to hand over plastic explosives, as long as the UVF attacked a Jewish target in Belfast. This suggestion convinced the UVF envoys sent to meet the pro-Hitler terrorists that they were dealing with nutcases. The UVF search for explosives switched to commercial, ideologically neutral arms dealers.

On a propaganda level the activities of a handful of loyalists in England like Whicker was undoubtedly damaging. It only projected and solidified the notion that the average loyalist was as much a bone-headed, shaven, beery-breathed bigot as their neo-Nazi buddies smashing up Brick Lane. The ceasefire, of course, and the emergence of Ervine, Billy Hutchinson and other articulate loyalist politicians, changed all that.

Observers of the far right will point to the career of Johnny Adair, who started his politico-paramilitary career in the NF. In retirement on the west coast of Scotland, Adair has admitted he always had his doubts about the English neo-Nazis, suspecting many of them of being "touts" or just terror-tourists not really serious about waging war on the republican movement.

It is worth remembering that throughout his life Adair maintained an enduring love for one English band who emerged out of the post-Punk era. The group was comprised of two brothers from a left-wing background who sang about racism in America's Deep South and who wrote socialist protest songs against Thatcherism and mass unemployment.

To this day Adair loves UB40. That's how serious the British neo-Nazis' favourite Ulster poster boy was about their message of racial purity and ethnic hatred.

BNP leader Nick Griffin given debate platform at Trinity College Dublin

Nick Griffin has been invited to speak at a Trinity College Dublin event.

A university spokeswoman confirmed that the British National Party leader is set to appear at a Philosophical Society meeting on October 20.

According to a post on the personal blog of the party's media officer Simon Darby, Griffin was invited along with a "BNP delegation" for a debate titled: "This House Believes Immigration Has Gone Too Far". The university did not confirm if there would be any other outside guests at the event.

Mr Darby said: "Let's all hope the students in Dublin hold their nerve against the inevitable, liberal fascist onslaught against free speech."

In 2007 Griffin appeared at the Oxford Union along with convicted Holocaust denier David Irving. Anti-fascist demonstrators held a protest outside the talk.

The Union of Jewish Students urged Trinity College to "deny the BNP a platform".

"Trinity ought to take heed from what has happened in the past when BNP members have appeared on UK campuses," they said. "Publicity stunts such as these tear apart student communities and contribute to a hostile environment for Jewish students on campus."

The University Philosophical Society was founded in the 17th century and former members include the writers Bram Stoker and Oscar Wilde.

An Apology

Yesterday we published a blog titled " Some strange returns and culinary confusion"

In this blog we described how the EDL's Essex organiser Paul Prodromou had found a new friend, the well known Neo Nazi Eddie Stamton.

As part of the article we published a poor quality black and white photograph with the caption "Stamton ( With Flag) on Brick Lane.

It appears we made a mistake and we apologise.

It wasn't Brick Lane after all, it was however The Bethnal Green road.

So just for Eddie Stamton and his new found friends within the EDL we republish the original photograph.

And while we remember we have also found these photos of a young Stamton at a British Movement summer camp, along with a rather telling one of Stamton in his bedroom.
