BNP's Advisory Council to be shut down - the disasters continue...

The BNP's Advisory Council, which is in place ostensibly to oversee Griffin and the running of the party, is to be completely dismantled to make way for the new membership tier known as the 'Voting Membership'. As we reported here, Griffin regards the new VMs as an 'activist elite', by which he presumably means they do as they're told and they would support him whenever he embarks on yet another one of his lunatic schemes.

According to information we've received, the unelected VMs will include organisers and active councillors at branch level as a matter of course, regional organisers, those officers of the party that remain after the coming reshuffle (or bloodbath, as one of our correspondents put it) but curiously (or perhaps not) not fundholders/treasurers - or certainly not those at branch level.

Considering that Griffin made a point in his blog post of August 11th of specifically mentioning 'effective powers of scrutiny over all central party finances', we're surprised that he intends to keep local financial managers out of the loop - but maybe we shouldn't be all that surprised at all. BNP branches from all over the country have been griping for the last couple of years that money gushes eternally into the black hole that is BNP HQ, and is rarely returned in any way, even, it is frequently said, in the form of election leaflets that have been bought and paid for. The last thing Griffin would want is someone demanding financial accountability all the time, which is why he will effectively keep the financial side of things directly under the control of the party's treasurer (currently John Walker though not, we suspect, for very much longer).

One sign that clearly indicates the diminishing role of the Advisory Council is that though it is intended that it should meet 'no less than three times each year' according to the BNP's website, it has in fact not met since last September - very nearly a year. And this is the body currently charged with a number of crucial tasks:

'The purpose of the Advisory Council is to inspect the party's accounts, ensuring proper conduct of the party's finances, and to act as a forum for the party's leadership to discuss vital issues and carve out the party's agenda, without hindering the Chairman's ability to make the final decision on all matters.'

The lack of Advisory Council meetings might then go some way towards explaining why the party accounts are so late.

Problems seem to be rife for the BNP's Advisory Council at the moment, despite the usually politically-somnolent summer period. Jonathan Bowden left both the Advisory Council and the BNP itself in a fury after Griffin's attack-dogs at Covert were set on him at the end of July, Scott McLean has resigned the Advisory Council and his post as Deputy Chairman over the Andrew Spence debacle and Steve Blake now appears to be directly in the firing line over a constant stream of criticism of the BNP website, which is about as bland as a political site can possibly get without anasthetic, and far worse, having signed Chris Jackson's nomination papers in the recent leadership election. It looks like he's a strong candidate for the bloodbath, probably alongside his pal Eddie Butler, the former BNP election guru (attacked by fruitcake Tony Lecomber a while back) who, after the lacklustre results for the party in the May elections is now apparently frequently described by Griffin as a twat (and worse). We confidently expect to be waving goodbye to both Butler and Blake in the very near future.

Thus the Advisory Council dissolves around Griffin's ears, ready to rise again in the form of a loose body of activists, the Voting Membership, and Griffin will only have to suffer the ignominy of answering to it once a year at the party's annual conference. This will effectively hand dictatorial powers to the leader of this already far from democratic party, giving him carte blanche to do as he pleases when he pleases with nobody to answer to except his unelected hardcore activists who he has himself placed into their positions of authority. Who in their right minds would give any party leader that kind of complete power over his party - especially someone as notoriously untrustworthy as Nick Griffin? And who would want to be a member of a party where the ordinary membership is regarded as of no value at all except for the price of their membership card?

We hear Jackie Griffin is swanning around showing off her nice new Peugeot sports car - a snip at around six and a half grand. The election results for the BNP might be crap, the executive of the party might be collapsing, the fake businesses dying off as fast as they are formed and the membership figures stagnating but the money still appears to be fast-flowing into the Griffin household. If I were a party member, I'd be worrying about that.

I AM a party member and I DO worry about that. I also worry about why iy is that we don't hear anything about this shit on our own sites except that rubbish nothwest nationalist site you lot seem to like so much. How come we have to come here to find out what's going on? I know I'm not the first one to say that either.

Instead of moaning about it, you should be pleased that someone at least is prepared to tell you whats what in your party even if they are the opposition.
Arent you ashamed of Nick Griffin and what he gets up to?

I’d like to state here and now and put my name to the following.

For years I have watched as BNP members and others have slated the BNP website for its appearance and for as many years I have observed Steve Blake not only take full legal responsibility for everything that goes on there but sift through hundreds of articles in order to update it. He does this job with little or no remuneration and any employment he had for himself previously was virtually destroyed by the very people who own sites like this. A website with whistles and bells like the Tories or Labour have costs many thousands of pounds per year. Griffin has NEVER given a penny to upgrade the BNP site and any minor upgrades to it and the BNP forum have been done by generous BNP donors after appeals. Yes, the members dip into their pockets once again.

Eddy Butler during the recent May elections told people they would not do well this year and even explained why. Griffin airbrushed over his comments so as not to damage members moral and left them thinking they would achieve beyond what was capable. The responsibility therefore lies with Griffin.

As for the AC, money was never discussed and the only time it was raised with the party treasurer the party treasurer had to ask Griffin how much the BNP had and Griffin stated “About £1 million” so as you can see the treasurer is there in name only and once again Griffin pulls the strings.

I think many people within the BNP will be incensed that members who pay more get more of a say but they should not feel downhearted as experience tells me the voting members will have as much power as the previous AC and that was ZERO.

I am constantly sickened by the vast quantities of people being financially and emotionally ripped off by the BNP but until they do something about it for themselves they will have to suffer their lot.

Word has it in the ranks that Mark Collett is going to take Steve's job when he's booted out (which he's going to be).

Forum software costs nothing (phpBB), moderators cost nothing, the only thing that costs money is server space and that's fuck all. Anyway, we all remember your little reign of terror on the forum don't we. It ended up in what I think Lancaster UAF described as the Bank Holiday From Hell.

Steve Blakes a traitor like you. Boot him out.

Interesting to see that Sadie's pulled in front of that dopey bastard Barnbrook in your poll.

When did Ebanks ever attend an AC meeting?

Answer: never.

Ketlan: you haven't donned a wig, put on a few pounds, splashed on the fake tan and now pose as Ms Ebanks on here?

Mark Collett has got a deservedly bad reputation for unreliability. That'll cause a few problems if that's the case.

I suspect that Griffin has known for a long time that Blakey isn't as corrupt as many of the others.

Consequently resources have been denied until a Griffinite is in place - perhaps then money will be released for web development and it will seem that SB was crap when in fact he was doing a difficult job.

Griffin once said that he was an admirer of Lenin and recommended him as political philosopher to be studied. NG has said he runs the BNP on "Leninist" lines. That may have a resonance for some but not for me. He seems more like Stalin to me. Hacking away at those capable of organising not only political activism but opposition to himself.

Interestingly enough Griffin may have the same ancestry as Uncle Adolf. Is "Griffin" really the family name ?(That's a teaser) Personally I think the best comparator is to Robert Maxwell or Conrad Black.

It is curious to me that the UAF want to bring Griffin down when their best policy must surely be to keep him in place sucking resources away from the grassroots and destroying the "administrative class" in the party.

about the poll - why do people think Sadie Graham is in the firing line?

That's something that I've heard asked before. IS it the family name or is there a Giffinheim in the background somewhere? We should be told.

Sharon Ebanks post seems to make a lot of sense, unfortunately.
The BNP is in self-destruct mode, has been since Griffin took over, and sensational election results can no longer hide the fact.
What nationalists need to be doing now is seriously looking at how the BNP, despite terrible press, incompetant leadership and endemic corruption, managed to poll so well for so long, and learn from this when the BNP finally dies (in the immediate aftermath of a disaterous, and very expensive, general election campaign, probably next year, for my money) and something needs to be salvaged from the Griffin family fund (sorry, BNP).

I would say that the most important figure was Steve Smith, and a lot can be learnt from his campaigns. A close second would be taking a 'media friendly' line, with regular press conferences and a 'soft line' on most issues. And, of course, real internal democracy and room for disention.

We don't actually want to hear lectures on how the BNP can survive and prosper, thank you. We'd much prefer to discuss how it can be utterly destroyed along with Nick 'Fingers' Griffin.

Huh!

Just what a political party doesn't need!

We'll carry on doing our bit, of course. There are always fascists to fight, whichever faux-political party they currently attach themselves to.

Sadly that's true but happily anti-fascists outnumber fascists about 1000 to 1. :)

You'll be one of the BNP members who enjoy rewriting history and I don't even have to guess who you are.

"The Bank Holiday from Hell" was because Lee Barnes BANNED EVERY SINGLE BNP MEMBER from their own forum. It had nothing to do with me or Steve Blake.

One doesn't need to attend an AC to know the bollox that is discussed in them. Most of those who attended AC meetings will tell you that.

Do you remember the slip of paper that Kenny Smith 'BNP ADMIN' proffered to Griffin? He claimed it was grounds to have me booted out. Would you like to tell the audience here what was on that paper? I'll give you until tomorrow to respond.

Definitions For Lee Barnes:

Leaflet
A rectangular piece of paper with a political message on that grass roots activists put through doors. Delivered by footwork and humility.

Humility
I won't bother

Leafleting
An activity that is not for arrogant BSers full of hot air who won't even go to a political meeting unless they are on stage. Leafleting is away of establishing contact with the people who really make a party tick.

Canvassing
A means to repair old fashioned tents.

posting made at 11.44pm so obviously sebanks. looks like we finally touched a nerve, and hopefully ebanks will now go sit in the sun instead of trying to use us to fight her cause.

She has over the last week or so been given ample opportunity to state her case.

We fight our own cause here and if ebanks is in the firing line then so be it.

Anonymous said...

Look, Ebanks is a fantasist.

She makes things up. Quite a few in the BNP realised that, even before she had a hissy fit and stormed out (slamming every door as she went).

Now, instead of building her own little party (they are fighting a by-election in Birmingham, incidentally) she prefers to spend her time sniping on here and dreaming up new versions of her "proof".

It's sad, but predictable.

However, what is even sadder is that a sad little group (with various agendas) still accomodate her.

She has been told to fuck off by evryone sane and sensible.

She should stay fucked off!

In terms of activity Sharon's n.n.p seems very inactive for want of a better description. Since the elections and even before they have done nothing yet her ability to give away information true or false is astounding which leaves me wondering what is the point of her party? The revelations about her Jamaican Father Radwell Ebanks is enough to stop any nazi in their tracks, which it seems to have done but remarkably there are a minute handfull of what are essentially nobodies clinging to her like parasites.

Sharon you are a disgrace and I'm in no doubt you suffer mental problems. I think you are officially a laughing stock.
