Landlady's anger over BNP publicity pictures

An award-winning pub has been pictured on a BNP leaflet prompting an angry response from its landlady.

Margaret Orman, who is landlady at the family-run Whitmore Arms in Orsett, was livid when a copy of the leaflet came through the pub door. The leaflet entitled Orsett Patriot' shows the British National Party candidate for Orsett, Derek Beackon, standing outside the pub.

Mrs Orman, 64, said: "It's making us look like we're supporting what they are doing and we certainly don't. I wouldn't let any political party use my business to advertise. What are our customers going to think. That man (Derek Beackon) hasn't even had the courtesy to walk through the door and introduce himself."

Mrs Orman has branded the leaflet as "cheap" publicity and said she wouldn't let any political party associate itself with the Whitmore Arms.

She said: "I'm so angry. We've got a very successful business and it's like they are trying to jump on the bandwagon. Of all the places they could have taken a picture of why here? They should not use a commercial business of any description and advertise their political views.

Margaret is planning to pin the leaflet, which was distributed throughout Orsett, on the front of the pub with a line through it and a notice saying the Whitmore Arms does not support the BNP.

Derek Beackon, who came to national prominence in 1993 when he became the BNP's first ever councillor, winning a by-election in Tower Hamlets, said: "It's just a local landmark that everyone knows. You can have your photo taken anywhere. However, looking back on it I'm not surprised she is upset. It's her livelihood and I can understand that she doesn't want to be associated with us. We were not trying to say she or the pub is associated with the BNP."

Now, why would you think that Derek?

This must be a usual tactic of their's, they did the same thing outside a pub in Maryport at last years elections and got a similar reaction from the owners.

One of the few moments of self awareness I've heard from a BNP member.

Its not just the BNP in Thurrock who are upsetting people, UKIP have put Clive Broad up again as a candidate! Last year he said he would vote BNP.
Last years story attached!
Thurrock is becoming the Nazi capital of the world!

Blast for candidate over BNP
Senior figures from UKIP have condemned one of their candidates in Thurrock's election, after he declared that he would be voting for the BNP.

UKIP candidate for Stanford-le-Hope West ward, Clive Broad, told the Gazette that: "There are no UKIP candidates where I live so I have no option but to vote BNP."

Spokesman for Thurrock UKIP, Matthew Knowles said: "I was very upset to read Clive Broad's unacceptable comments in last week's Thurrock Gazette. I disassociate myself from them entirely."
Chairman of UKIP's South Essex Ron Hurrell said: "It has come to my attention that Clive Broad has made a statement in which he encourages people to vote for the BNP because UKIP is not standing in the ward where he lives. I wish to make it perfectly clear that he was expressing a personal opinion and was certainly not speaking for UKIP. We would never advocate voting for such a Party, under any circumstances."

Well another pub down the road in Barking & Dagenham lost out big time on Saturday, as was reported in an earlier post the Nazis were supposed to be launching their nationwide Election Manifesto at the Eastbrook pub on Saturday afternoon at 1.0pm, all London candidates were instructed to attended suited and booted and a nationwide message went out to muster the troops who could own a suit to attend.

Well LOL 35 turned up, the 12 london candidates, 8 security knuckledraggers, that leaves them with 20 hangers on. Well Dagenham & Redbridge were playing at home that day not 5 mins walk away.

Its not surprising then that there is not one word of the launch either on Darbys site or the BNP main site, and dont even bother with the London BNP site nobody has been near it since Good Friday.

But the really good news is that HnH distributed 1000s of leaflets in the borough over the weekend and the response from residents was fantastic.
