EDL Notts turn their attention on Boy Scouts Group

1 Comment (s)
The English Defence League's Nottingham Division have now focused their hate on a boy scouts group after a blog appeared on their website claiming that local Muslims had demanded a Muslim only group. This is the blog which was posted in order to rile up their division into causing trouble for the group by harrasment.
Nottingham Muslims show how “integrated” they are by demanding their own Scout group

By Nottm_Patriot – October 18, 2011 Posted in: News

A SCOUT group has been set up following requests from Muslim parents.

The new group, called the 92nd Nottingham, was due to meet for the first time in the Karima Institute, in Berridge Road West, Hyson Green, yesterday evening.

There are currently 25 young people taking part, being supported by ten adult volunteers.

Matt Rooney, County Commissioner for Nottinghamshire Scouts, said: “The opening of the 92nd Nottingham group is down to the hard work of volunteers from the local Muslim community and scouting working together to ensure that scouting is reflective of the communities in which we live.

“We are proud that more and more young people and adults are joining Scouting and I am proud to be the head of a movement in Nottinghamshire that celebrates and reflects the diversity of our communities.”

If you are from the local area and would like to volunteer to support the new group, or have young people interested in joining the 92nd or any other group, please contact Jayne in the County Scout Office on
What the EDL fail to point out is that the group is open to any child of any faith but the EDL try to spin it as though it is being 'demanded by Muslims' when in fact it has been set up by the hard work of Muslims who wish to integrate, proving once again that is Muslims do try to integrate with British society, the EDL will go out of their way to make sure they cannot, or at least, make it as difficult as possible for them.

This is how This is Nottingham reported the story:
A NEW scout group has been set up following a demand from Muslim parents.

The new group, called the 92nd Nottingham, will meet tonight between 6pm and 7pm in the Karima Institute, on Berridge Road West, in Hyson Green.

The group is open to anyone who wants to join any faith or race, but it was initially set up following a demand by Muslim parents who live in the area.

There are currently 25 young people, being supported by ten adult volunteers.

Matt Rooney, Head of the Notts Scouts, said, "The opening of the 92nd Nottingham group is down to the hard work of volunteers from the local Muslim community and scouting working together to ensure that scouting is reflective of the communities in which we live.

“We are proud that more and more young people and adults are joining Scouting and I am proud to be the head of a movement in Nottinghamshire that celebrates and reflects the diversity of our communities.”

Worldwide there are 32 Million Scouts from almost every county in the world and there are more Muslim Scouts than Christian Scouts.

If you are from the local area and would like to volunteer to support the new group or have young people interested in joining this, or any other group please contact Jayne in the County Scout Office on

Nottingham pig's head mosque race abuse man sentenced

0 Comment (s)
A man who was involved in placing a pig's head on a pole outside the possible site of a mosque in Nottingham has been given a suspended sentence.

Christopher Payne, 25, from Beardsmore Grove, Hucknall, admitted racially aggravated public order offences after the incident on 23 June.

Nottingham Magistrates heard Payne failed to stop others placing the pig's head and had also left racist graffiti.

He was sentenced to 6 weeks imprisonment, suspended for a year.
'Wholly irresponsible'

The court was told Payne had taken delivery of a pig's head, that was later pinned on the pole outside waste ground on Collington Way, in the West Bridgford area.

Payne also admitted writing "no Mosque here, EDL Notts" on the pavement near the site of the proposed mosque.

He admitted causing racially or religiously aggravated harassment, alarm or distress and racially or religiously aggravated criminal damage.

He was also ordered to pay a £250 fine with £85 costs, complete 100 hours of community service and stay out of West Bridgford for 12 months.

A letter from Payne was read out in court in which he said he regretted his actions, and now understood and accepted it was wholly irresponsible.

He also told the court he had left the English Defence League.

In sentencing, District Judge Morris Cooper told the court he had reduced Payne's sentence by a third because he pleaded guilty.

More threats - this time from the EDL

The EDL left this threat on a Leicester trade unionist's voicemail in the build up to their Nottingham 'march'. Needless to say this has been reported to the police.

Piss-Poor EDL Defending England's Heritage

26 Comment (s)
The EDL's finest turned up in Nottingham on Saturday
aiming to do battle like street-fighting knights of the realm

After downing medieval refreshment in a Wetherspoons tavern, they set off on their march to Nottingham Castle to show once and for all how much they love England and its historic heritage - by protecting the castle from dastardly multicultural visitors by unleashing an almighty torrent of smelly urine across the castle keep.

The picture reminds me of the yobbish student from Sheffield who like this excremental neo-nazi outfit, got drunk and pissed on a war memorial.

These neo-Nazi EDL cretins just can't help themselves. If chucking bottles and scuffling with the police was not bad enough, they decided to expose themselves in broad daylight, urinate in public en-masse, while women and children walked by. An army of racist football hooligans behaves like an army of racist football hooligans which is why the EDL will always be loathed not just amongst anti-fascist demonstrators and the general public, but amongst fellow members of the far right.

Trevor KKKelway and chums thought they were so big and clever assembling a ready-made army of travelling fighters on a shoestring budget, who would turn KKKelway into the next Nick Griffin, to take over from the BNP when it fades into insignificance, and move into the national far right political scene and the election circuit, but with a bunch of ignorant uncouth soccer hooligans who after a pint or two of cheap lager don't give a shit about Britain's cultural heritage, the EDL make the National Front seem professional.

Gordon Brown and the police chiefs of Britain's largest cities allow the EDL to incite racism and violence on the premise that they are practicing free speech, but free speech does not mean chanting racist slogans, making Hitler salutes, chucking missiles and scuffling with the police, and most certainly does not mean the freedom to spray one of Britain's most historic castles with foul-smelling piss.

Whether or not the EDL are working with the state as some people suggest, or are merely KKKelway's ego trip, they have earned a reputation of racism, fascism, yobbish and ignorant behaviour that will be impossible to shake off. Having initially been championed by American neo-conservatives as a useful tool of pushing the British political agenda rightwards, they are now regarded internationally as a joke.

The laugh is on the EDL, and so long as they continue to use football hooligans and BNP/BPP members its marches, they will never achieve their aims of dividing and conquering the United Kingdom along racial and religious lives, turning community against community, when its army's elite commanders cannot control their bladders!!!

The EDL are a piss-poor excuse of a far right organisation.

Violence at Nottingham anti-Islam demo

6 Comment (s)
Eleven men have been arrested during violent skirmishes at a demonstration by the English Defence League

A 29-year-old WPC was taken to hospital after she suffered an arm injury while policing a cordon at the protest in Nottingham city centre. All of those arrested during the march by 500 members of the EDL were held for public order offences and no-one was seriously injured, said Nottinghamshire Police. One of those detained needed hospital treatment after he kicked a police dog, which retaliated and bit him.

Police leave was cancelled and Nottinghamshire Police drafted more than 700 officers, many from outside forces, in a £1 million security operation to prevent violence during the rally outside Nottingham Castle.

Many members of the far-right group, which says it stands against Islamic extremism, had their faces covered with scarves and hooded tops as they chanted: "We want our country back." The crowd also sang the National Anthem and football-style chants before gathering next to the city's famous statue of Robin Hood, which had been covered with chip-board to prevent it getting damaged. Other protesters had Union Jacks and St George's flags which they either waved or wrapped around their shoulders, while some held placards which read: "Protect Women, No To Sharia" and "No Surrender".

Extra mounted officers and dog sections were called in to contain members of the EDL, some of whom had been drinking from early in the morning. A police officer barked instructions at the crowd from a helicopter circling overhead, while constables filmed suspected agitators with video cameras.

Councillor Jon Collins, leader of Nottingham City Council, praised the force for its operation, which saw it dealing with a nearby counter-demonstration by Unite Against Fascism. He said: "Anybody watching the EDL could see right from the start that any idea that they were here for a peaceful demonstration was complete nonsense. They were here for a fight and to provoke a fight."

He added: "I am sure their political views are as they state but I am equally sure that they are a pretext for a fight more than anything else."

Violence erupts at anti-Islam demo

9 Comment (s)
Violent clashes have erupted between police and members of the English Defence League (EDL) during a city centre protest. Some 500 demonstrators from the EDL, many of whom had been drinking all morning, marched through Nottingham shouting: "We want our country back."

The hundreds of officers, many of whom had been drafted in by Nottinghamshire Police, surrounded the rally. Officers mounted on horses were forced to keep back some of the demonstrators with batons while some constables had dogs to try and contain the violence. Many of the demonstrators had their faces covered with hooded tops and scarves and shouted: "Allah, Allah, who the f*** is Allah?"

Other protesters had Union Jacks and St George's flags which they either waved or wrapped around their shoulders as a police officer barked instructions at the crowd from a helicopter circling overhead. Some of the group waved placards which read: "Protect Women, No To Sharia" and "No Surrender".

The English Defence League claims it is not a racist organisation, has no links to the BNP and is simply standing against the threat of Islamic extremism. A spokesman said they had planned the demo for Saturday as the Second Battalion the Mercian Regiment was holding a homecoming parade in Nottingham following a recent tour of Afghanistan. Adding to the police workload, Unite Against Fascism decided to hold a counter protest.

Police step in as protesters square up in Nottingham

EDL protestors after a few hours in the pub (Wetherspoons, no doubt)
Wetherspoons strikes again
Police have had to form a barrier between two groups of demonstrators in Nottingham city centre on Saturday. Dozens of officers had to act after hostile exchanges between Unite Against Facism and the English Defence League in the Old Market Square.

A large-scale police operation has been in operation in the city on Saturday ahead of the two demonstrations and a military parade. Hundreds of police officers have been deployed in the city centre. Police had planned to keep the two sides apart as Christmas shoppers and football supporters were in the city.

The Mercian Regiment also marched through Nottingham on Saturday morning.

Senior officers had planned a major operation to stop any violence during the English Defence League's planned protest against "radical Islam" and counter-protests from the Unite Against Facism group. Previous marches in Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds have led to disturbances and arrests in the city centres.

The statue of Robin Hood outside Nottingham Castle was boarded up to prevent damage during the protests.

Notts Police wants to ensure protests are 'peaceful'

4 Comment (s)
Nottingham City Council leader Jon Collins today urged people not to counter-demonstrate against a "small bunch of fascists".

The English Defence League (EDL), who claim to be campaigning against a rise in UK based Islamic extremism, are holding a rally this Saturday afternoon in Nottingham city centre. The event is being held on the same day as rallies by Unite Against Fascism and Stop the BNP in Nottinghamshire, a march by more than 400 Mercian soldiers returning from Afghanistan, and the football league match between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City at the City Ground.

But Chief Superintendent Shaun Beebe said the police had been working with other forces in the build up to Saturday to try and ensure the protests were peaceful. He said: "We are preparing a significant, but proportionate policing operation, which will use a range of tactics and see highly visible officers, deployed across the city centre. We will endeavour to facilitate peaceful protest, while ensuring visitors to Nottingham, and are allowed to go about their normal business in a safe manner. In the build-up to Saturday we have worked with other forces, which have recently experienced this kind of assembly, and have been speaking with the demonstration groups to establish their intentions."

Some road closures and bus diversions may have to be made during the day and Nottingham Castle will be closed.

Coun Collins said: "This is a small bunch of fascists who have been touring the country causing as much trouble as possible in different cities. Their aim is to promote trouble. I would urge people not to counter demonstrate. I would understand why people would want to protest against these people, but the only reason they are coming to Nottingham is to cause trouble.

"It's very obvious because they were planning to come earlier this year, but changed the date to coincide it with the Mercians and the Forest and Leicester match. They want to cause the greatest trouble to local people and cause the greatest cost. The kind of views they hold, most reasonable people in the country will find abhorrent."

The EDL has agreed with Notts Police that they will gather in Castle Road from about 2pm, away from the main shopping area and Christmas attractions.

Mr Collins added: "I urge people to be in town to support the Mercians march past. Whatever people think of the war in Afghanistan, we should recognise the sacrifices made by East Midlands soldiers."

Coun Collins said he had been told by Nottinghamshire Police that the cost of policing the various events on Saturday would be around £170,000. He added: "It's a shame that local taxpayers are going to have to find £170,000 that should be being spent on community policing. I would also urge people to use the city centre as they would normally in the run up to Christmas."

Nottingham Castle and The Museum of Nottingham Life (Brewhouse Yard) will be closed this Saturday to assist with the policing of the events.

Job losses as Holocaust Centre faces cash crisis

8 Comment (s)
Up to nine redundancies will be made at the Holocaust Centre in Nottinghamshire in a bid to alleviate its financial crisis

The memorial and educational centre founded by non-Jewish brothers Stephen and James Smith 14 years ago needs to slash its annual budget from £800,000 to £500,000 and activities such as professional training could be axed. It intends to focus its resources on educating the young — 22,000 primary and secondary pupils visit the centre every year.

Short-term financial support has been provided by the Pears Foundation and the centre has launched an urgent appeal for a further £170,000 to cover the expected shortfall in next year’s budget.

Earlier this year, Stephen Smith took the job as director of Steven Spielberg’s Shoah Foundation in California. James Smith, who has remained, says the centre has struggled to make ends meet in recent years.

“We were doing OK for the first decade but for the last four years it has been hand to mouth. We are attracting more children and have more professional staff so the costs have gone up and we have just not been able to bridge that extra funding. The financial situation in the last year hasn’t helped and there have been donations we were expecting that didn’t come.”

The stark choice had been closure or a radical restructuring of operations. “We have had to slim down hugely and that means cutting staff and other activities.”

It was particularly disheartening as “there has never been a more important time to tackle extremism. When we should be ramping up the work, we’re cutting back”.

Notts Police facing another massive operation

2 Comment (s)
Notts Police are facing another mammoth operation with three major events taking place on the same day next month.

A far-right group, the English Defence League (EDL), is planning a protest in the city centre on Saturday, December 5. It is planned to coincide with a homecoming march by hundreds of troops from 2nd Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Worcesters & Foresters). And on the same day, Nottingham Forest take on Leicester City at the City Ground – a fixture which usually requires a heavy police presence.

Senior police officers are due to meet this Friday for the first of a number of talks on the policing arrangements for the three events. A force spokesman said: "We are aware that some members of the English Defence League intend to visit Nottingham in December. Over the coming days we will speak with the group to clarify what their intentions are."

The EDL is urging members through its website to attend the protest against "Radical Islam" on December 5. It is the latest in a number the group is staging in major UK cities. Nine people were arrested in Leeds city centre on Saturday during a police operation to keep apart the EDL and Unite Against Fascism (UAF) during two separate protests. About 900 EDL supporters staged a protest against Islamic extremism in City Square. A rival protest of up to 1,500 UAF supporters took place about 300 metres away.

The EDL's website describes the group as a "non-racist organisation demonstrating against the spread of radical Islam". The group says it is currently holding a number of "peaceful protests against extremist organisations that promote terrorism or those that seek to oppress others whether through religion or politics".

A group on a website has been set up, called EDL Anti Islamic Extremist March Nottingham, which has attracted more than 30 members.

The homecoming march by soldiers who have been on tour in Afghanistan, taking place on the same day, is expected to see hundreds of people of all ages taking to the city centre's streets, including many young families. The regiment, which includes soldiers from Notts, Derbyshire and Worcestershire, flew out in March this year to help train the Afghan National Army as part of a 400-strong battle force.

The major operation of policing the three events comes just weeks after the Notts Constabulary were left with a bill in excess of £600,000 after 600 officers from across the country stopped eco-protesters from breaking into Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station.

Notts Police are asking the Government for some of the money back. Notts Police Authority chairman Coun John Clarke added: "This could be a major operation and will leave us with another massive bill."

BNP student imported knuckle-dusters

7 Comment (s)
Tightrope - violently white supremacist
A City music student with an interest in far-right political groups illegally imported knuckledusters and CS spray from a member of a white supremacist movement in America. Michael Winfield planned to add the prohibited items to a collection kept under his bed.

Customs and Excise officers in Manchester intercepted a parcel from a prominent member of Tightrope to Winfield, a New College Nottingham student, who lives with his mum in Carlton. Marked as "books and paperweights", the package contained three 14g CS spray key-rings and four knuckledusters, bought for as little as $15 each.

Eight neo-Nazi booklets were discovered, two Tightrope catalogues and a booklet called The True History of the Holocaust.

The seizure led police to search the family home on December 3, 2007. A similar CS spray was found in Winfield's bedroom, two more knuckledusters, an extendable baton, a BNP membership card and 49 BNP pamphlets. His computer had images of neo-Nazis and weaponry and a photograph of 20-year-old Winfield in front of a flag, brandishing a weapon.

He ordered another package while on bail, again intercepted. It contained a telescopic baton, 13 stickers with racist slogans, and two T-shirts bearing the slogan "White Pride Worldwide."

At Nottingham Crown Court, Winfield, who had no previous convictions, pleaded guilty to importing prohibited items and possessing a prohibited weapon. Recorder Richard Burns heard Winfield's explanation for the collection was simple curiosity, and that he was going to add them to his collection in his bedroom.

Prosecutor Michael Auty said: "There is no evidence that these items, however repugnant, were being imported for some specific purpose or some specific attack."

The judge imposed a 12-month sentence, suspended for 18 months, with 120 hours of community work and supervision by the probation service for 18 months.

Council ousts 'BNP leak' councillor

1 Comment (s)
A councillor arrested last year in connection with a leaked BNP membership list has lost her seat, it emerged today.

Sadie Graham-Single is no longer councillor for Brinsley after Broxtowe Borough Council announced it is to hold a by-election for her seat. The council has called the election following Mrs Graham-Single's failure to attend the requisite number of meetings during a six-month period.

In a statement, the council said her right to be a councillor ceased at midnight on May 12th - six months after last attending a meeting of the council's Sustainable Communities committee on November 12, 2008.

Mrs Graham-Single has been informed of the council's decision and the date of the by-election will be announced following a full council meeting on June 17.

Mrs Graham-Single was one of two people arrest last December in connection with the unauthorised publication of a BNP membership list on the internet. She was arrested by Notts Police on behalf of Dyfed Powys Police, but was bailed pending further inquiries.
