Wetherspoons strikes againA large-scale police operation has been in operation in the city on Saturday ahead of the two demonstrations and a military parade. Hundreds of police officers have been deployed in the city centre. Police had planned to keep the two sides apart as Christmas shoppers and football supporters were in the city.
The Mercian Regiment also marched through Nottingham on Saturday morning.
Senior officers had planned a major operation to stop any violence during the English Defence League's planned protest against "radical Islam" and counter-protests from the Unite Against Facism group. Previous marches in Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds have led to disturbances and arrests in the city centres.
The statue of Robin Hood outside Nottingham Castle was boarded up to prevent damage during the protests.

On the This Is Nottingham website, Leisha Brookes has been posting as a troll named Hel, and posting all manner of Islamophobic lies in defence of the neo-nazi EDL, including one which really gets me angry.
As well as misquoting passages from the Koran, she says one of the most vilest lies about Muslims during World War II, claiming that they were disloyal, didn't represent Britain, and didn't fight as well as Sihks.
A recent BBC documentary showed all the graves of British Muslims who died in World War II, which disproves this evil and malicious lie perpetuated by English Nazis in the EDL.

It looks like good old pro-fash Wetherspoons (Lloyds Bar) allowed this gang of drunken nazis to drink on the street, breaking the law, and they also allowed customers to climb on Wetherspoons roof, from the photos, which could have collapsed, and yet, the police didn't arrest these drunken thugs.

Forgive me, but how could a 43 year old be a 'serving soldier' unless he is very high up in the ranks, which would be very odd. Even if he is, the line 'they are protesting against our troops' is an outright lie, probably pre-scripted and agreed in advance, which is why they chose that date for the protest. Lieslieslieslies as ever....

I hate to say this but the edl are being used by the government to get members to leave the bnp which is why coppers allowed well known edl organisers to climb the roof of spoons pints in hand without getting arrested for a public order offence.
Drinking in public in nottingham on the citys streets is a criminal offence unless youre a signed up member of the edl.
