BNP deputy leader resigns

Simon Darby has resigned as deputy leader of the British National Party. However unlike many others in the fascist party, he has not fallen out with Nick Griffin. In fact his resignation is a convoluted gesture of support for the beleaguered BNP leader.

Griffin and Darby have been spooked by Nick Cass’s support for Eddy Butler’s challenge to Griffin’s leadership. Cass, the former Yorkshire regional organiser whose picture, with his wife and children, has appeared on many BNP election leaflets as the typical wholesome British family that votes BNP, is very popular in the party and is likely to attract further support for Butler’s challenge.

Cass is being promoted as Butler’s “running mate” for deputy chairman. In an attempt to take the wind out of the challengers’ sails, Darby, who has been deputy leader since 2005, claims the post has “absolutely no constitutional standing”.

Darby is being disingenuous to say the least. He claims the position of deputy leader was created as an “ad hoc measure” by Griffin when he was facing the possibility of imprisonment on charges of inciting racial hatred (on which he was eventually acquitted). That may be so, but he in fact supplanted Scott Maclean, who was then deputy chairman of the BNP, a position that does have a role in the party constitution. It is this role for which Cass is putting himself forward.

Darby’s resignation, with immediate effect, is presented as an attempt to take the “distraction” of the deputy leadership out of the leadership election, as if that would somehow make Cass go away.

Darby also cites his “self-imposed demotion” (so the deputy leadership position does have some meaning then) as giving him the “moral right to ask that others at least exercise responsibility and restraint”.

He rather spoils his attempt to occupy the moral high ground when he calls for an election that avoids “setting nationalist brothers and sisters against each other by repeating enemy lies and black propaganda about the current leader and his team”. Where is the plea for Griffin’s supporters, in particular his communications chief Paul Golding, to desist from spreading vicious smears and lies about Butler?

Griffin’s most sycophantic supporter, Paul Morris, who blogs under the name Green Arrow, was quick to reject any notion of a civilised and honourable contest. “I would also be interested now, in receiving the names of all those who sign Butlers nomination forms, in order that I may make public all information that I may gather on those people who are either deliberately trying to destroy the BNP or those stupid enough to support them,” he wrote less than three hours after Darby’s resignation.

For good measure, Darby concludes with his own snipe against Butler. “Don’t wake up one morning later this year to find that we’ve lost Nick Griffin and his team, and replaced them with a jostling, squabbling, unstable, untested and indecisive coalition.

Implosion at the BNP said...

Simon Darby has obviously realised that Nick Griffin is fucked whether he survives the leadership challenge or not. One or other of the court cases will get him even if the Butler/Cass challenge doesn't and he wants a place in the new administration.

I checked out the link about Clive Jefferson a couple of posts back. Started looking and guess came across this. [its in 2 pieces because its to large.

Thanks Billy. As you say a lot of us went to the BNP because we believed them when they told us they weren't racist, fascists and Nazis. I know the press and the likes of UAF said they were but we had to find out for ourselves. After all we were desperate to save our country. Lets face it we all just assumed the likes of the UAF were just professional politically led protesters ' when your in this is what you are told'.
While on the likes of the UAF. All they do is galvanise support for Griffin. When some one is in your face on the street calling you a racist or a Nazi of course you bite back.Every time the UAF attack him his bank balance goes up through robbing the membership. Griffin needs the UAF to exist.
I never have been a racist. And as you know a lot of BNP members/supporters aren't either they fall for Griffin and Co's lies. "Were just a patriotic party trust me" is the usual reply.
What I do know 'however' is that when I went to a meeting locally I was surprised that the people were not what the press said they were, it appeared to be people just frustrated with the state of there country and frustrated that no one is listening.
It took me a while to join but join I did. I then quickly got made up to Carlisle organiser. I then was made NW secretary. This is when I started to see them for what they really are. When I got on Griffins staff I walked away in disgust. Yes they are all they say they are. But there also as corrupt as mainstream politicians,in fact there worse. Main stream politician fleece the tax payer. BNP Ltd fleece there own as well. they use propaganda to the outside world via the website. But most importantly they use propaganda to there own supporters and members. Distorting facts and figures and hiding behind a veil of secrecy and lies. Propaganda is the largest tool they have. One other famous party in history relied heavily on propaganda I'm sure you all know who I mean.

The BNP are as bad as the Labour party. Only the Labour party call it spin. At least the Labour party is a political party the BNP is more like a cult.
I could go on and in to greater detail of what I saw and found out. That party is behind me now and the future looks promising. I still get the odd piece of propaganda thrown at me by idiots like Jefferson. Whom by the way is now third in command in the BNP. Griffin " a man is judged by the company he keeps" need I say more.
I felt like I should set the record straight and draw a line under it. Because no doubt it will be fetched up in the future. No doubt the BNP'ers on here will start the attack now. But before you do. Ask yourself are you attacking anyone that speaks out against the BNP because the BNP are wonderful or are you just parroting Griffin. And before you do remember Ive heard it all before. The death threats etc. Grow up.
In closing if I had known about the English Democrats 2 years ago I would never have even given the BNP a chance.

You must be joking. They have blundered from one cock up to another for years and provided great hilarity for us.

It's reckoned that Darby has been a Special Branch tout for at least the past decade.

Maybe his State handlers have pulled him out and told him to stay low and ingratiate himself with whatever factions wins this fight. Therefore the State will maintain their asset in the leadership.
