The BPP cannot count - are we surprised?

This article was submitted by one of our readers, Iliacus. We welcome any contributions from our supporters (as long as those contributions conform to the law and are in reasonably good taste). Please send your articles to us via email.

Although, of course, it's the arrival - eventually, maybe - of the BNP's accounts which gives us the greatest amusement, from time to time it's worth looking at the financial performance of some of the lesser players on the nuttier fringes of the far-right.

The BPP (British People's Party) for example. Now, credit to this group - at least it met the deadline for submitting its 2009 accounts, something the BNP failed to achieve. As it did for 2008. And 2007. And 2006. And 2003-2005 for that matter.

For those who don't know, the BPP is a far-right micro-party, born out of a split in the Nationalist Alliance. Its leading (I use the term loosely) lights are Kevin Watmough and David Jones, who between them fill the four official positions within the party. (A simple google search will tell you all you need to know about these two characters, their party, and their past). Their annual report for 2009 reveals that they fought no elections in the year, concentrating instead on building membership and organisation.

The success of these efforts can be gauged by their electoral efforts in 2010. They fought one ward - Todmorden in Yorkshire - where David Jones polled a magnificent 4.95% of the vote. Pretty terrible for what must have been a national target ward. After all, it was their only ward!

Anyway to return to their 2009 accounts. The accounts were, at least, on time. Unfortunately they're gibberish. Consider the following, and tell me if I've misunderstood.

Carried forward from previous year £120
Income during 2009 £2,655
Expenditure during 2009 £1,475
Balance at end of year £868.79

Now, my calculation is 120 + 2655 - 1475 = 1300
So where's the missing £431.21 gone?

Or are they just idiots? I think I know the answer to that one!

Can we assume the members of the EDL/Moat facebook group don't know that one of his alleged helpers is called Qhuram Awan.

In 1981 Whatmough and some of his gluebag followers turned up to an ANL fundraiser being held to raise money and awareness for the forthcoming Northern Carnival held in Leeds, which saw 'The Specials' headlining. Whatmough and his wee gang were given a surprise and were ejected forcefully from this event last seen running away with their tails between their legs. There MO was violence and to disrupt this event. "Iron bar Whatmough", as he was known then (he was rumoured and seen to carry such a weapon), failed and despite the attempted shenanigans of this motley crew the concert went ahead and brought together over 50,000 people. It was a great success, in comparison to a poorly attended march by the NF in the city on the same day.

"EDL members use Atlas Shrugs to call on their supporters to blow up mosques, with Bradford riot approaching."

There's lots of provocteurs on all sides trying to ramp up the rhetoric and build an atmosphere of violence. Locals in Bradford shouldn't allow themselves to be provoked and their should be no counter activities on the day. Hopefully there will be a blanket ban on all demonstrations in the Bradford area but if there isn't let the EDL be 'kettled' by the Police.

Kevin Watmough and David Jones, who between them fill the four official positions within the party.

Why would that be then? Maybe these 2 losers are the only members the BPP have got left. It would explain why we've hardly heard anything from them lately when a year or two back they were bragging about how they were going to be having more marches & 'taking back the streets'. Wonder what BPP 'actions' consist of nowadays- Kev & Dave sharing a gluebag?

"if there isn't let the EDL be 'kettled' by the Police"

The problem is, all it will take is a single burst of racist chanting for all hell to break loose.

The city could burn for days. This is frightening, and how will all of Bradford's mosques be protected for, during and afer the EDL's violent invasion?

Watmough was interviewed months back by the Daily Mail actually, and he was expecting plenty of trouble if and when the edl "hit" bradford.

Wander if the BPP now attend EDL demos?

Nothing would surprise me!

What is worrying is what the utra-violent EDL thugs will do who evade the kettle, which shops will they smash up, and who will get caught up in the crossfire?

Someone mentioned Ivegate on another website. True. Ivegate once again could be a fascist flashpoint that starts things kicking off big-time.

Bradford is unpoliceable, even with a £3m budget.

Also, whose gonna pay for the policing?

They are now part of the EDL so I guess they are doing what they say.

So where's the missing £431.21 gone?

It's to pay Jim Dowson for raising money for the BPP in future. That £431.21 is his first hour's wages.

"Income during 2009 £2,655"

That probably came from Eddie Stampton's dole money, he does not need it as Griffin is paying him handsomely for attacking Butler and his supporters.

"at least it met the deadline for submitting its 2009 accounts, something the BNP failed to achieve".

The BNP has not so far failed to meet the deadline for submitting its 2009 accounts. The deadline for parties that need to have their accounts audited is 7 July, but the Electoral Commission will not reveal until towards the end of July which parties have submitted their accounts on time. The BNP accounts might well be late, but we don't know that yet.

Smaller parties, such as the BPP, do not have to have their accounts audited and have an earlier deadline for submission.

You ask about the missing £431.21. If you look at the accounts properly, you will see that the figure of £868.79 is described as the amount of the cash and bank balances not the accumulated profit carried forward. The accounts are certainly incomplete, in that they do not show the party's non-cash assets, but they are not necessarily incorrect.

Whilst I have no doubt that members od the BNP / EDL / BPP are defrauding the system we need facts.

So where, when and in what names ?

Give us this and we can turn the "compliance" bods loose on these defrausing scum. After all I pay my tax and NI cons.

Why should genuine working class people subsedise these parasites ?
