BNP's ‘Africans for Essex’ lie nailed

The British National Party’s “Africans for Essex” claim has been conclusively proved a lie. Research conducted during the summer shows that only 30 people moved into Barking and Dagenham via a cash incentive scheme over the past four years, of whom only nine were of African origin.

Just as significantly, not one Barking and Dagenham household took advantage of the scheme.

The BNP has prospered in the east London borough as a result of claims that Africans are being offered £50,000 to buy properties in the area as part of a scheme by the Labour authority to ensure electoral success in the future. With a shortage of low cost social housing, rising house prices in the private sector and the fastest changing community in the country, many local people have believed the BNP lie.

Now, evidence has emerged that conclusively proves this claim is utter nonsense. Research by Margaret Hodge, the MP for Barking, shows that only 19 of London’s 33 local authorities run a cash incentive scheme designed to help council tenants buy a property outside the borough instead of buying their existing council homes. Because council properties are in such short supply this scheme costs the local authority far less than the subsidy given to tenants under Right to Buy.

The MP’s investigation revealed that only 1,332 people across London had taken advantage of this scheme over the past four years, of whom only 30 moved into Barking and Dagenham. Of these, seven were white, nine were Asian, nine were black (of whom six were black African) and five did not have their ethnicity recorded.

Twenty-one of the 30 came from Tower Hamlets alone. Of these, six were white British, nine Asian, one black Caribbean and only three black African. The backgrounds of the remaining three were unknown.

It was also found that the average payment made to those people who moved into the borough was only £16,000 – far less than the £50,000 figure the BNP had peddled.

While the facts will not stop the BNP regurgitating this lie, the research can be used to persuade local opinion formers of the untrustworthiness of the BNP.

Interesting research from Hodge.

She gave the BNP its biggest win and, I can't help thinking she did it on purpose to prove their crass incompetence and stupidity to the electorate who will surely never vote BNP again given Barnbrook's single brain cell and lack of sobriety at council meetings.

Hodge giveth and Hodge taketh away!

Dicky is a dick head.

End of story!

Nick Griffin will no-doubt renounce Dicky Barnbrook before the next elections, when Dicky's stupid enough to pay the next years subs in advance.

He'll have to go back to making his "art house porno movies".

Nice to have answers to this lie.

Please give the true credit for this research where it is really due, the Leader of B & D Council carried out this research nearly a year ago now and reported the results of his research in an Assembly where he successfully challenged Diva Dicky and once again made him look the total prat he really is.

All Hodges office have done is poach somebody elses research and put it out as theirs, and they cant even get the figures right on it as well.

If you want the truth speak to the organ grinder and not the monkey.

Speak to those who face and challenge the BNP on a daily, weekly and monthly basis, not those who are yet to even face them.

Mever mind africans for essex if i was you id have a close look at the new look BNP website it is saying Kenny Smith and Sadie Graham have been EXPELLED.

Possibly because of the enough is enough Nick anti Collett site.

Given a choice between Collett and Graham Im sure most would side with Graham.

Griffins expelled the wrong person. Collett should have gone.

Graham is also a councillor - sothat';s another one lost 'thanks' to Collett.

Minutes of B & D Assembly meeting, i will get you exact date if need be.

But answer me this, where and when has M Hodge published this "research" certainly not in B & D where she knows full well she would be caught in a lie. No mention of it at all on any leaflets that are coming out of her office like confetti, not on her website which really needs some serious updating.
Tried Google NO mention. So it begs the question why havnt they published it.
Answer cos it wasnt hers to publish.

anon said, never mind the africans for essex lie.....

it may not mean much to you mate but here in B & D its a different story, and as Lancaster is covering the "Witch trials" on another posting there is no need to be so bloody dismissive.

"Bloody dismissive" sums up your post. You have to keep up with events. AFE has been done to death it may affect you but not many local people housing in that area will always be an issue and peoples perceptions will be the ones that count. And Lee Japsers housing wont help the cause either.

High ranking expulsions hasnt been done to death not this fresh wave anyway.

Calm down please.

Why did Griffin expel two members before he got there anual subs off them? Another £60 (2 subs) down the drain.

Guess I will be renewing my BNP membership with my credit card, mainly so i can charge it back if it gets cancelled.

anons...3.09pm posting are you a troll in disguise?

Why are you so desparate to move the discussion from AFE to bnp expulsions on this post when it is being well and truly dicussed on a more up to date posting.

Why introduce the matter of Lee Jasper? it wasnt raised at all on this posting.

What the bnp successfully tried in B & D with AFE can easily be tried anywhere.

Why the smokescreen?
