Cameron's revolting neo-Nazi connection

David Cameron has evidently forged some unfortunate connections with Europe’s neo-fascists through his Conservative MEPs. In this week’s New Statesman, out tomorrow, the excellent James Macintyre blows the lid on the Tory MEPs’ careless connection with the disgusting, neo-Nazi National Revival of Poland party (NOP) and its former big-wig, Michal Kaminski.

I have early sight of Macintyre’s piece and it’s worth quoting his second para to give you a taste of this nexus that the Conservatives have with Europe’s neo-Nazis, which they had better sever pretty sharpish:
“The new chair of the Conservatives and Reformists group, which includes the 24 Tory MEPs, is Michal Kaminski. He belongs to Poland’s Law and Justice party, one of whose MPs, Artur Górski, described the election of Barack Obama in the US as “a disaster” and “the end of the civilisation of the white man”. Kaminski is a former member of the neo-Nazi National Revival of Poland party (NOP), which, in a direct quotation from Hitler’s Mein Kampf, says in its manifesto that “Jews will be removed from Poland, and their possessions will be confiscated”. In 2001, he condemned his own president, Aleksander Kwasniewski, for apologising over the Polish massacre of hundreds of Jews in Jedwabne in July 1941.”
This kind of lazily-constructed relationship is the kind of thing that an aspiring governing party in the UK has to police extremely carefully. It’s a truly shocking connection, because these anti-semitic monsters in Poland are truly, deeply shocking.

Cameron’s shadow chancellor, George Osborne, drifted stupidly into a connection with dodgy Russian oligarch Oleg Deripaska. Cameron should pay attention to who his MPs and MEPs are taking ale with. And this is an odious European flank that could cause him any amount of trouble in the months ahead. He needs to deal with it today, or tomorrow may not belong to him.

Has anybody read the comments page that follows this Daily Telegraph blog?

It's cram-packed with neo-nazi trolls supporting this Polish nazi, including sickening anti-black and anti-Semitic racism, including Holocaust denial.

It's not just the BNP threads which are subject to infestation by neo-Nazis.

If anyone's surprised about the Conservatives' racism then they should get their naivety levels reduced. Read your history. The links between the upper classes and fascism have always been strong. In the 20s and 30s in particular many openly regarded themselves as fascist. There was a famous ex-King and a couple of Mitford sisters for example. Since 1945 it's been a bit less of the done thing but views haven't changed much even if asssociations have.

"The links between the upper classes and fascism have always been strong."

They're pretty strong between the 'lower classes' and fascism too. Just go on to any council estate and listen to the conversation, it may not be hardcore fascism but it's certainly casual racism, easily beefed up by the likes of the BNP.

So i take it you're one of the "middle class" that stands up for working class then?

This country is fucked no matter who runs it!

Nope, common as muck. Sarf London born and bred (and still happily living in a council house).

Nazi trolls are everywhere on internet forums, ranging from unemployed BNP supporters writing on every newspaper site going (check out thisisbristol for a particularly nasty infection) to Americans who post on the BBC and a lot of other media 'have your say' type sites.

The Americans tend to give themselves away by using US terminology such as 'liberal' in a perjorative sense to mean 'left wing', which in this country has historically meant middle-of-the-road politicians. In particular the description of the 'liberal media elite' is obviously complete nonsense in the context of the UK which is dominated by race-baiting red tops plus the Mail, Express etc. I've often wondered if this is an organised campaign.

Over on SFB, in response to an earlier post from a disillusioned Norfolk BNPer we now have:

Yes Swaffhamboy. There was a stunning lack of support from Head Office for Norfolk BNP made worse by the fact we were in the middle of sorting out a serious organisational/personnel problem caused by the elections officer in the first place.

I wander what's Cameron going to do about this, other than hope everything will be brushed under the carpet.

With racism on the rise in britain, it makes concerned people that if Cameron abolishes race relations bodies he labels "quangos" as he promised to do, will the clock be turned back fifty years??????

David Cameron, a social dinosaur in progressive's clothing.

Fascism tailors it's message to appeal to all social classes. That's what makes to so potent.

It seeks to replace class interests with the so-called "national" interest and uses notions of race and cultural identity to do this.

The BNP will bring its message to anybody who will listen. Sadly, many northern towns have been abandoned by Labour and the BNP have, partially, filled that vacuum.

''I've often wondered if this is an organised campaign''

It clearly is an organised campaign!, but the logic of it escapes me. Who reads the comments on local news anyway? The only time I do is to play 'spot the nazi troll'. I don't even bother doing this anymore, because I have a job and a life!

Since when did 'saturation' of all media equal 'truth'. Sounds like 'brain washing' to me, an old Nazi trick. It's a manufactured 'spontaneous movement' and it honks of SHIT!

Perhaps it's something like 'if we scream loud enough then someone has to listen'. Sad bastards.

Maybe the Left could organise a counter campaign, but I don't think anyone has the energy. (or enough obese obsessives on DLA, arf!)

Stick to the real world, I think, no room for cowardly trolls down the local boozer innit!
