Probe into assault on BNP leader

The British National Party leader Nick Griffin has made an assault claim to police after a man threw a pint of beer over him outside a pub.

The MEP was at The Falcon Inn in Painswick, Gloucestershire, on 11 July when there was an alleged confrontation involving a customer. The BNP leader said a man "came at me with a pint glass" as he left the pub.

A Gloucestershire police spokesman said officers were investigating the complaint.

Mr Griffin told BBC News Online: "Someone is entitled to say 'I don't agree with you', but no one is entitled to throw a pint of beer at you. I don't necessarily expect them to lock him up and throw away the key. He just needs to learn to keep his ideas to within the law."

The confrontation had been taken up by constituency Labour MP David Drew, who claimed in the House of Commons the "totally upstanding" man was given "one hell of a hiding" after the incident. Mr Griffin said it was Mr Drew's intervention which prompted him to make the formal police complaint.

He said: "I was prepared to leave it at that, because it seemed a waste of police time. But when we get Labour MPs standing up in the House of Commons spouting downright lies I felt I had no choice."

A police spokesman said: "Yesterday afternoon we received a call from a 50-year-old male regarding an incident outside the Falcon Inn public house at which he had a drink thrown at him. Officers are investigating the incident."

What a terrible waste of beer.

So he was prepared to forget it and not waste police time with something so trivial until David Drew pissed him off. Now, in a fit of pique, he's happy to waste police time and get an impetuous young man a criminal record into the bargain. What a shit.

Just seen this on the beeb site and made a note of it over on the unity forums.

So Griffin is now going for prosecution is he? What about his hench men being reported for the physical assault that came after this?

I am just pleased and praising God (via the Reverend West) that Mr Grifin's ring was in no way hammered, battered or ruised.

No David Drew, what a shit. The young lad wanted to remain anonymous. Drew outed him in the commons, what a cunt!

The only person not needing "outing" is Mr Griffin.

That would be another outing down memory lane.

I wonder if London Mothers Against Knives (if it existed) would think that this is a good use of police reources.

Interesting comment by Walker though:

BNP spokesman John Walker said: "People have to start to realise now that they cannot go around taking liberties with a member of the European Parliament, whichever party they represent.

"We won't put up with it. It is not civilised behaviour. If he got duffed up, he was a victim of his own misfortune."

Yes, a terrible waste of beer.

Forgive my language, but what the **** is that supposed to mean?

Throw a drink at our beloved leader and you'll get a hiding?

Call our b.l. a bigot and you'll get a hiding?

Look at our b.l. in a funny way .... ?

I'm hoping that NG has made one BIG error here by opening this up with the police ... if they are going to investigate beer throwing surely they will be obliged to open up anything that followed ?

I think you'll need to doublecheck that with Martin Reynolds (allegedly).

There appears to be an Australian security company called "BNP Security" which offers the following service:

"Our security personal [sic] can escort your staff to the bank or pick up and deposit your banking for you."

You couldn't make it up.

Hold on! I thought I was BNP leader? You may well be soon, sweetest, given the performance of the incumbent - a prosepct that fills the Nation (capitalised to show fitting degree of awe) with joy.

Who's tanya from east Birmingham?????

At the very most the lad is guilty of common asault, maybe also criminal damage.

If has been reported he received various innjuries afterwards that could be much worse for the BNP. Did Griffin direct his attack as in "teach him a lesion" etc - if so it opens up conspiracy charges if the lad makes a counter claim. Also if the guys who beat him were employed by the BNP he has a civil claim agasint them as well.

Nice one Nick....

When John Walker talks about "civilised behaviour", does he mean the instance when he sent sick and perverted horse-human pornography to party rebels???

Yes, hopefully the lad will press assault charges against the anaabolic-steroid thugs with man boobs who beat him up under the orders of Cyclops.

I wander if those young National Front volunteers who removed the asbestos from Gri££in's farmhouse roof in Welshpool all those years ago will want to press charges?

Weren't those lads paid in out of date beer, or something?
