'Racist' leaflet suspect charged

The notoriously racist 'Preston Pals' leaflet
A Preston man has been charged with distributing leaflets in Lancashire which claim Muslims are responsible for the heroin trade.

Anthony Bamber, 53, of Greenbank Street, Preston, will appear at Preston Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with incitement to commit religious hatred. Three other people arrested last year in connection with the investigation have been released from their police bail.

A 41-year-old man from Nelson, a 44 year-old man from Darwen, and a 57-year-old man from Nelson were all arrested on Wednesday, November 19 2008 on suspicion of the publication and distribution of written material intended to stir up racial hatred and the possession of racially inflammatory material. However they will not now face any charges.

More info on the leaflet in question can be found here and here.

Didn't Griffin, a year or two ago, on Newsnight, in an interview with Kirsty Wark, state essentially the same thing?

They will charge the 'small fry' like this guy but Griffin seems to be able to spout any racist bilge!

That leaflet is a disgrace but I bet he isn't done for it. There seems to be something holding the establishment back from dealing properly with these racist bastards. Maybe they have some sympathy and are taking it to court for forms sake and to make it look like they are doing something other than sitting on their hands.

They ought to jail Bamber and that bastard Lee Barnes (I read the links). Shits, the pair of them.

Trouble is it was on a channel four Dispatches pregram a while back. It's also been on the News several times, so it's a bit difficult really. He can only be prosecuted if what this leaflet say's is a lie. Otherwise people will think it's one rule for Muslims and another for everyone else.

I think Antifascist has made it pretty clear that whats in the leaflet IS a bunch of lies. Just a little research on the internet confirms it. It is also clear that the BNP in the guise of the Preston pals has either not done its research at all or has only used that which agrees with its racist views, carefully ignoring anything else.

I take it the NF and the like didn't attack the Americans back in the early 1980s over the heroin issue?

I know for a fact that in Oxford the heroin was transported via the US airforce into Britain and the dealers at the time were American Airforcemen.

It didn't make all Americans guilty though.
