Whodunnit?

According to itself the BNP's website has been hit by the "biggest Denial of Service attack ever", but, as we'll see, not everybody is convinced that the party of American construction workers, Italian grandmas, Polish Spitfire squadrons and Helen Colclough is being completely upfront.

The site disappeared from the internet yesterday evening, after apparently experiencing problems the day before, leading a hysterical Simon Darby to post:
The main BNP website is currently down due to a massive Denial of Service Attack. The site was attacked last night, at one point dealing with 28 million hits, but we managed to block out the traffic which was emanating from Eastern Europe and Russia.

The size of the assault today is unparalleled and there is no doubt that whoever has organised this has had to pay out a serious amount of money to the criminal underworld.

On Friday the servers of Clear Channel, part of a huge conglomerate that provides billboard advertising, suffered a similar attack. Their IT professionals tracked the criminal activity back to a notorious "anti-fascist" organisation openly aligned to the Labour Party and supported by the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats. This organisation was protesting at the decision by Clear Channel to allow the BNP to display advertising in support of our European Election Campaign.

As a consequence of the criminal actions against Clear Channel we understand that their legal team is currently in the process of issuing writs against the perpetrators which as well as civil actions will involve the possibility of potential criminal charges including racketeering.

I'll keep you all informed about the above.
Now would-be rubber magnate Darby is supposed to be some kind of IT guru and knows as well as we do that DoS attacks don't happen because somebody paid "a serious amount of money to the criminal underworld". They usually happen when a Billy No Mates geek gets a bee in his bonnet, and they're virtually untraceable because Billy No Mates is activating armies of sleeping "zombies" which live on thousands of innocent PCs. The "zombies" flood the target server with so many requests that it can't cope and goes down. That's the simple explanation, but for more read this.

Naturally, Darby can't resist hyping the scale of the "attack". It's "the biggest... ever" and "unparalleled" - in his own mind. A simple web search finds far worse examples.

Equally naturally keyboard warrior Paul Morris, aka Green Arrow, can't wait to get in on the act and manages to out-pompous even himself:
the British National Party membership is made up of the best of the True British people. They do not whine when bombs fall around their heads, they do not flinch when their ammunition is gone and the fight is desperate, they fix bayonets and stand firm.
Somebody should tell the Welsh Windbag to get a grip. This is a DoS attack (allegedly) not Rorke's Drift, and the internet is chock-a-block with examples of the BNP membership "standing firm" by whinging and whining about how hard done to they are on almost every newspaper website and blog in the world.

Anyway, back to Darby.

Now if Clear Channel, the people who brought you the BNP billboards, was under attack on Friday then it wasn't obvious to us, since we accessed the site a number of times throughout Friday and Saturday. And we've yet to hear news of writs and legal actions against a "notorious 'anti-fascist' organisation" issued on behalf of Clear Channel.

Why is Darby so coy that he won't name the organisation "openly aligned to the Labour Party"? Could it be that he's afraid the (real) writs might start flying in the other direction?

We'd also like to hear Darby's explanation of how Clear Channel's IT professionals allegedly managed to track down the source of the attack in a few hours, when such investigations take anybody else, including the police, weeks and sometimes months of painstaking research to solve.

So whodunnit?

Out in Nutziland the theories are coming thick and fast. One nemotode thinks the outage was planned to co-incide with the Archbishop of Canterbury's attack on the BNP, while another agrees: "That is disgusting. Typical of the Reds!" The same microbrain, hearing that the "attack" originated in Russia then ventures: "Russia eh? Maybe some Labour MPs are paying some old commie friends to do some dirty work." Another casts his net more widely: "...why does Lancaster Unity, Hope Not Hate and Denise Garside, Ketlan Ossowski and others come to mind?" (because you're an idiot, A1?)

It would be nice to believe that somewhere in a Siberian bunker there's a man in a wheelchair, a scar on his face and a cat on his lap, spluttering maniacally as he switches the BNP on and off, but there might just be a simpler explanation.

Even in Nutziland several remarked that they'd heard the BNP's servers were due for an upgrade, but a friend of ours posts this:

>>>
...using IPLocator at http://www.ipaddresslocation.org/ip-address-locator.php for the ip address the www.bnp.org.uk had last night (87.117.239.66) I got the following back:

Your IP Address: 87.117.239.66
IP Address Hostname: 87.117.239.66
IP Country: United Kingdom
IP Country Code: GBR
IP Continent: Europe
IP Region: Windsor and Maidenhead
Guessed City: Maidenhead
IP Latitude: 51.5167
IP Longitude: -0.7
ISP Provider: B&P Interative Ltd

This morning however the address seems to be:

Your IP Address: 95.154.192.19
IP Address Hostname: maidenhead-1.wnm.uk.cluster.bnp.org.uk
IP Country: United Kingdom
IP Country Code: GBR
IP Continent: Europe
IP Region: Windsor and Maidenhead
Guessed City: Maidenhead
IP Latitude: 51.5167
IP Longitude: -0.7
ISP Provider: RapidSwitch Ltd

Having offered serveral un-substaniated possible reasons I wonder now whether it is simply the case that they have exceeded the throughput for their hosting package and have had to move to another provider.
...
It will take awhile for a DNS change to propergate so they could appear to be offline for awhile it will depend on how often your isp's dns is updated.

The story of DoS is I would allege a sham and the cover story for the move - and maybe, I mean hopefully their backups are crap and their expertise in re-creating the site is inadequate.

>>>

So then, are we (and the BNP membership) being treated to another hefty dose of BNP BS?

Watch this space, comrades.

I can't find any trace evidence of a DDOS attack on bnp.org.uk. Just its normal weekend traffic, then it went inactive.

This stinks. What are they hiding?

Why doesn't Darby name Searchlight. Everybody knows who he means.

Go on, Curly. Name them. Or are you afraid they'll sue your arse for everything they can get?

What fucking bullshit they come out with:

At 13:36 Monday we can now confirm that following on from the sustained denial of service attack on the main BNP website (http://www.bnp.org.uk/) we can now confirm the following:

1. The Counter Terrorism Unit at Scotland Yard is now investigating.
2. MI5 have now been alerted to this incident which has serious implications for UK security.
3. The Labour Party aligned "Searchlight" organisation is now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police for a similar attack on the servers of Clear Channel. The situation is compounded by the fact that "Searchlight" actually works for the Metropolitan Police.

More BNP lies!

I got my technical people on to this and indeed, it looks like the BNP screwed up as there is NO evidence of any DDOS/DOS attack on their servers.

I knew politicians lied but these people are sociopaths! Or psychopaths. One of the -paths anyway!

These people really are beneath contempt. Anyone who votes for them really is a complete outsider and or user of their local community mental health services. Amazing! Incredible bollocks!

Barns has just named those he claims did it!

I've pasted the words below, but have taken screencaps from his blog in case he tries to take it down - let me know if you want them.

"DOS Attack - Who Did It ?

The recent attack on the BNP website is evidence of a worrying trend.

On thursday the website of an bill board company hosting BNP advertisments was attacked by DOS attempts from hijacked computers.

The source of this attack was allegedly traced back to a server linked to Bluestate Digital and Searchlight, both of whom are now under investigation for a variety of interesting criminal offences.

The location of the ISP's used in this attack against the billboard company was mainly hijacked computers based in Eastern Europe and Russia.

Then on Friday afternoon the BNP website was hit with a massive DOS attack for approx one hour.

Then starting from 17.30 Saturday night another massive attack also targeted the BNP website with another DOS attack.

Guess where this came from - yep. Eastern Europe, Russia and Lithuania.

Isnt that a strange coincidence.

Two attacks in two days both from the same place and both linked to the BNP.

I think there may just be a connection there.

On sunday morning I contacted the Counter-Terrorism Unit, Scotland Yard and MI5 to inform them that one of the largest DOS attacks in British electronic warfare history was underway against the BNP.

I said ' Today the BNP, tomorrow the NHS or the Bank of England'. They got the point.

Also note that Lancaster Unity, who facilitated and incited and assisted the attacks and threats against the bill board company are also under police investigation.

The police had better make sure all flights from the UK to Israel are now closely monitored for fleeing Searchlight, Bluestate Digital and Lancaster Unity idiots." From his blog.

Course he did.

'Also note that Lancaster Unity, who facilitated and incited and assisted the attacks and threats against the bill board company are also under police investigation.'

Amazing. Every time Loony lee comes out with this crap, I have to point out how strange it is that neither the police, MI5 or Jack Bauer have been in contact with us. Either Bonkers Barnes is a lying shit or the police, FBI, NKVD et al have chucked his stupid accusation in the bin (again).

For Christ's sake, Barnes, take your medication. It's obviously long overdue.

Even more interesting (or probably just another example of ZOG!! lol) is that there has been no mention of the Clearchannel DoS attack (Even though it is a large multinational) or the BNP DoS attack (not including the innane drivellings from certain sheeple's blogs).

Try googling it... there is SQUAT, ZILCH, NOWT, NADA...... Not content with failing to convince the general public, they are now resorting to whipping up paranoia from the rank and file cash cows... I suppose they have spent lots of money... on leaflets and billboards... and REALLY expensive TV launches :-)..... so they might just need to milk the rank and file for a cash request for new servers that were raped and eaten by eastern european heathens, funded by Searchlight.

Oh, did I just get a steal on the latest BNP scam?

The BNP website is a pretty good resource for anti-fascists. Even the sanitised-for-public-viewing articles contain enough divisive and unworkable 'policies' to give real concern to the thoughtful browser.
What escapes BNP supporters is that their BNP website is not necessarily an asset.
Why would any thinking anti-fascist want rid of it?

DisgustedOfTunbridgeWells said...

@Green Gordon.

They are, by and large.

The thing is, anyone even vaguely competent can avert a ddos attack, there is an absolute litany of features on most Cisco or Juniper routers to stop or mitigate them (though the Amazon's and eBay's of the world will also have dedicated IPS and traffic scrubbing devices for this purpose) that's largely why they're nowhere near the issue they used to be when big sites got taken down fairly regularly.

Anyway, if you have a look at the responses where they've posted this 'news' (digg, for example) it's quite obviously a half arsed, ill conceived scam to try and buoy their wavering campaign and for a bunch of people who spend their days moaning about 'scroungers' they've seem to have a lot of free time to spend posting inane shit all over the internet.

Email just sent out by Griffin:

BNP website taken offline in largest cyber attack in recorded history!

We need your help IMMEDIATELY!

Fellow Patriot,

The main BNP website was offline for a short period due to an unprecedented Denial of Service Attack, the likes of which have only ever been seen before in 2001 when Microsoft’s website was brought down under similar circumstances.

...
The size of the renewed assault is unparalleled and there is no doubt that whoever has organised this has had to pay out a serious amount of money to the criminal underworld.

On Friday the servers of Clear Channel, part of a huge conglomerate that provides billboard advertising to the BNP, suffered a similar attack.

The attack on the BNP website is an indication of the increasing desperation of our opponents, who, unable to defeat us in democratic debate, would rather just have us closed down. BUT THEY WILL NEVER WEAKEN OUR RESOLVE TO WIN BACK OUR COUNTRY!

The rising popularity of the BNP’s website (just before the attack started, the site’s web rankings had broken through the 20,000 most popular site in the world mark, and 1.600 in the UK) was obviously simply too much for the alliance of Communists, Tories, Labour, Lib-Dem and UKIP old parties to bear, hence the decision to try and close it down by illegal means.

Our website is now back online thanks to the legendary efforts of our cyber team, led by BNP Webmaster Simon Bennett. However, this entirely new and unexpected criminal attack on our hugely popular website has alerted us to new dangers that must be neutralised IMMEDIATELY.

Our website is still under massive attack and keeping it online is causing enormous strain on the time and resources of our internet department. It could crash again at any moment.

WE NEED TO GET THIS PROBLEM SORTED IMMEDIATELY AS THE CRIMINALS BEHIND THIS WILL NO DOUBT WANT TO TAKE OUR WEBSITE OFFLINE BEFORE OUR BROADCASTS ARE SHOWN ON TV TOMMORROW!

We have been forced to hire a Cyber Defence expert who is skilled in prevention of the kinds of internet attacks we have just experienced. On top of this, we also need to invest in additional hardware and servers. We MUST pay for these critical items immediately in order to prevent our website being taken offline again, and for this we need YOUR HELP.

We simply cannot afford to pay for these additional items because every penny we possess is allocated to the Euro Election Campaign.

If you want to see the BNP website safe and secure we need your help immediately - we cannot waste any more time. We have priced up the cost of hiring a Cyber Defence expert and also the extra servers and hardware: we need £5,000.

The choice is very simple and I hate to be blunt: either everyone reading this digs deep and makes a donation that will help to get to £5,000 very quickly or our website will no doubt be taken down again by the cyber criminals. Considering we have, at the moment, around 200,000 hits per week on our website this will be a huge waste of valuable enquiries - imagine how many people won't be able to get in touch when our broadcasts are aired on TV tomorrow! That's what is at stake!!

I have personally donated £250 to this appeal to set things in motion, stand with me now, we cannot allow our countries enemies to do this again! Please send your most generous gift immediately.

I wander what Clear Channel think of the company they allowed to put up racist billboards, lying being lied about and involved in their childish bullshit conspiracies, which does little for their failing corporate image.

Perhaps it's worth an extra email or two to Clear Channel, pointing out that their beloved BNP are telling porkies about them suffering denial of service attacks, and see what they have to say.

If they have sense or scruples, they will tell the BNP that they have contravened terms of service and thus have invalidated any contract they had with the nazis!

DisgustedOfTunbridgeWells said...

HAHAHAHA fucking hell, the show never ends does it ? The money from the lie lorry scam must have run out.

Even though we all know he's got no intention of buying new hardware or hiring any 'cyber security expert' (nb - anyone with the term 'cyber' in their job title is a fucking joker) for what it's worth £5000 wouldn't get you a whole lot and even if it did it's an issue for the hosting firm
(the current hosters of the site don't appear to offer co-location services, the bnp don't own the servers or any of the hardware involved).

What he's basically proposing is the equivalent of you paying someone thousands of pounds if this site went down, it makes no sense.

FFS, why am I writing this, there wasn't any attack in the first place, see how quickly you end up down the bullshit rabbit hole when you engage these lunatics and their odd little fantasy land ?

The good news is that the bnp site is still offline and it is *NOT* because of a DoS attack!

There is some other reason - earlier today, sadly it was restored and there were a number of ip address changes. and the site was functioning.

Then it seems to have gone down. The machine at www.bnp.org.uk which returns an nslookup of 78.129.131.90 is alive but applications on it are not replying.

Maybe they haven't paid the bill???

Given the message from Griffin about money. The site is held closed until they pay for it.

But at least the shits are off line :-)

If you are sympathetic to the BNP cause - don't believe the shit about a Denial of Service Attack - put bluntly - IT ISN'T HAPPENING except in the minds of Grififn and Darby. They are telling you stories!!

This is what the BNP webmaster Simon Bennett is claiming over on the BNP members forum:

"The attack was not unexpected. The ferocity of it was, as was the response from our server management company...

They panicked and pulled the plug on us due to the attack being so severe it bought their entire network down, but we are working on a solution and are getting there slowly."

Anonymous said...

"[W]e are working on a solution and are getting there slowly". Slowly being the operative word.

The hosting company probably pulled the plug on them because they're more trouble than they're worth: public attention for helping fascists can't be very good for business.

As usual the Nazzers didn't have a back-up plan for this sort of eventuality and so are now flailing around looking increasingly stoopid.

Ex- AC member said...

Truth is Simon Bennett was caught with his trousers down. When David Duke's pal Emmanuel D'Abignosch and importer of Turner Diaries Steve Blake were looking after the BNP site they at least had the common sense to have two servers, one to act as a back up. Also the former site was deliberately basic and as a result quick to load. When old one-lamp Gri££in dumped these two political liabilities for the "safer" pair of political hands of Bennett he didnt realise at the time just how much Bennett doesnt know about web server maintenance, he can however build pretty sites which are SO enormous that they crash when more than a half a dozen of the faithful log on at the same time. The weekend corresponded with the delivery of hundreds of thousands of BNP election leaflets on door mats across the country. No guesses for how many extra people would log on to the BNP server out of curiosity. Bennett's bloated site was just too big for the extra traffic and crashed under the weight of the extra users.

Darby is a lying c*nt and knows fine well that the BNP server did NOT come under a dDOS attack but if it reinforces the seige mentality of the BNP supporters which in turn gives them a reason to throw a few more pounds into the trough so be it.
